I've been looking forward to making the drive out to Lee's for quite some time now. Since I live on the other side of Charlotte, my drive time was 30 minutes +, each way. But...the trip was definitely worth the time involved. I'm from Philly and grew up eating the greatest Cheesesteaks served anywhere in this great country of ours. And yes, Lee's is extremely well known in Philly, just as Pat's and Geno's are in South Philly. Everyone in Philly has their own favorite haunt. Whether it's at the transit center in Broad & Olney, Kensington, NE Philly, N Philly, or South Philly, we have a Cheesesteak to please every palate and then some. The bread and the meat have to be on point and be the star of the show. And Lee's were most assuredly in the 10 ring. The meat was perfectly seasoned, and the bread held it all together, with a flavorful goodness. I tried both the Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteak, as well as the Philly Cheesesteak. Both Whiz wit (cheese whiz and onions) and added mushrooms on my Chicken Cheesesteak. Both of the sandwiches were loaded with meat and flavor. Everything is handicap accessible, and plenty of seating is available outdoors as well. Beer and wine are coming soon. Plenty of TVs for the coming NFL season and the EAGLES decor is unobtrusive yet prominent. A very pleasant and knowledgeable woman named Sandy was working the counter during my visit, and that's why I know so much about the multiple vegetarian options. A gentleman came in while I was there, and she explained to him in detail the plethora of vegetarian options that were available on the menu. Treat yourself and take the drive. You won't be disappointed. If you took the time to read this review, please take a 1/2 second and click...
Read moreI was in the mood for a Cheesesteak today, so I decided to head over to one of my local favorites, Lee's Hoagie House. I have been here before, so I know what to expect typically. I usually get a Buffalo Chicken Cheesesteak or Wrap, but like I said, today I wanted the Philly.
As typical, I was greeted by a very pleasant woman, Sandy is her name I believe. She was sure to verify the toppings I wanted before sending the sandwich back. I had never tried their wings, so I wanted to give those a try as well. They have an option to do a swirl (Combine 2 sauces), so I chose Buffalo Hot & Garlic Parmesan. This combination tasted really good, the Ranch for dipping as good as well.
The only "issue" I encountered was that the system charged me for the swirl, and I had already tapped before bringing it up to Sandy. Sandy was helpful with this, as instead of trying to refund/rerun and the headache that could come with that, she offered me a combo for free the next time. I was very happy with this resolution as I know I'll be back. The old bay fries are good as well.
If you're looking for a quality cheesesteak, sub, or even some wings I would recommend giving this place a try. Thank you for offering military discount, it is very much...
Read moreJust average. But if you saw that I paid $60 for two large subs you’d have given this a one star once you saw the quality. You can find the same subs at any other chain. Ordered two large subs for takeout. When I got home they literally just gave me two 8-9 inch subs for each order. They were pretty much smashed together. Bread was mediocre. Deli meat wasn’t the best quality- definitely cheap. Veggies included were the highlight- at least they were fresh.
Cheesesteak- ZERO flavor. Ordered extra mushrooms and could barely find any. Overcooked, dry beef. Very few veggies found. Bread was mediocre.
Turkey Sub- veggies were fresh and delicious. Deli meat wasn’t slimy and had zero flavor. Bread - see above.
Props to those making it at the store as I asked for a veggie that they didn’t have and they called me prior to making it to ensure my order was correct. Most places would have just sent it...
