Today was my first time visiting Sunflower restaurant and the service was HORRIBLE. The food was good. Unfortunately, the customer service was terrible. Our waitress was amazing, but the hostess and cashier was rude, irritable, and unprofessional. Prior to being seated, the hostess rolled her eyes as we counted the number of people in our party. This type of body language will make anyone feel very uncomfortable and unwanted. After spending $50 & leaving our waitress a tip well over 20%, I purchased fried shrimp to-go and sat in the chairs in front of the register and waited for my order to be provided to me. The waitress walked by and told me that it would be ready in 10 minutes. I waited 15 minutes and politely asked the cashier if she could provide me with an estimated wait time for my order. She told me that it takes 10 minutes to be cooked. I told her that it had been 15 minutes & her exact response was “Well we are busy and there is nothing that I can do about that. You’ll have to wait.” Which I didn’t mind doing, but her attitude was unnecessary. She forcely pushed the kitchen door open, came back, & told me that it would be 2 minutes. Another 10 minutes goes by.. as I waited I watched the cashier process cash transactions without making eye contact nor smiling at customers. I also saw someone place my food on a shelf under the register area, but I didn’t say anything. I waited for the cashier to notice. She finally noticed, with no smile, no apology for the delay she said “You paid for this right?” I responded yes ma’am with a smile and she practically threw the food in my hands. At that point, I did not want the food anymore so I asked for a refund. The cashier called the hostess over who just so happens to be her mom and her mom said, “Well she paid for it so what’s the problem? Go tell your dad.” The waitress went in the kitchen, came back, & processed my refund. There was a party standing at the counter that complained of bad service as well, which is sad because I’ve heard so many good things about their restaurant. Unfortunately, my experience wasn’t the same as others. Their first impressions made a lasting impression and I will never eat there again! Advice: Great customer service is the key to a thriving Organization. The cashier lacks proper customer service skills, but obviously is overworked & may need some help. Today might have just been a bad day, but regardless of the day you’re having or how busy it is that shouldnt affect the way that you...

If I could leave zero stars I would and I wish I would have taken pictures! So we came here based on the parking lot being packed and the menu. However once I got inside and ordered my food that was an issue. My boyfriend wanted an omelette however just wanted the pork substituted for turkey. Well the waitress said the manager said that they couldn’t do that! Then he came to the table and said they couldn’t because they already have everything prepped. Which made no sense..Whatever just decided to order something else.So they sent someone else to the table this time the first waitress it was a language barrier I guess because they sent someone who spoke clearer English and she said that the other lady didn’t understand and just got confused. Anyways I order a pork chop and eggs and my son got the French toast and sausage. The pork chop was disgusting trended in grease and the skin peeling off. My son french toast looked like they added an extra layer of something to them. He didn’t like them as well. So the waitress noticed that I didn’t eat my food. She inquired how was it I said I don’t like it but it’s no big deal, I just didn’t eat it. She suggested she could get the manager. He comes over and ask me “why don’t I like my for”? I said it’s nasty and the presentation is not good greasy and all the skin falling off. He tells me I didn’t even taste it; and then said “If you don’t like it you just don’t like in a rude tone and walked off. Overall the experience was horrible and the professionalism of the manager is just very much lacking! Everyone experience is different but I would never come back and wouldn’t recommend! Yes the pork chop was taken off the bill! However you don’t treat customers this way, very...

Had a horrible and totally unexpected experience today at this restaurant. I’m currently under going chemotherapy treatments and decided I wanted a break out of the house and eat at one of what used to be my favorite restaurants. After my food arrived, I asked the waitress to bring me plastic fork and spoon because metals utensils changes the taste of food due to the side effects of chemo. She advised that the owner/manager does not allow customers to eat with plastic utensils inside the restaurant for any reason. The couple sitting next to me became upset and went to speak to the manager and sure enough he refused to make an exception to the rule. The couple canceled their order and left the restaurant. As I was leaving the manager came and explained the reason for the no plastic utensils rule. One customer saw another customer eating from plastic utensils and immediately asked why is he/she using plastic utensils? Is this restaurant dirty? He manager continued to explained that he cannot have customers thinking the restaurant isn’t clean as that is bad for business. He stated had I spoken to him before hand, he may have made an exception. How the heck would I have known that rule? Really? The manager never once offered an apology or to pay for my breakfast as I, the customer was inconvenienced due to an unwritten, non-posted rule! Dear sir, you have lost not one but two valuable customers today. I did not ask for breast cancer sir. I pick a time of day where the restaurant wouldn’t be crowded (only about 7 customers including myself were there) and I sat in an area with only one other couple and they left because of your no plastic...

Easy to love this place! Customers are treated like royalty! Owners are so nice to customers you really will not believe it! Go early for breakfast before 8AM and you'll avoid crowd but if really want to see how many customers can be handled go anytime! Best grits on the planet ... absolutely! Drop by for a true dining experience! You can observe people ordering for breakfast meals that you never thought of as breakfast! One recent morning I watched as customers ordered the shrimp and fried fish for breakfast. So many orders so many happy faces You will see Police, city workers, many veterans and friends and neighbors. I do think there are several people that eat here every single day! Hash browns are excellent and I’m picky! Go very early and you will be almost by yourself to dine in but you still get to watch the takeout action! Wait until 9AM for breakfast and you will see many customers until about little after 1pm but think they close at 2

Hidden gem!!!! This is a mom and pop family owned restaurant. Don't let the outside appearance fool you. It looks like an old house converted into a restaurant. There is a small parking lot at the back and side street parking. We visited on a Saturday morning. It was rainy and cold. This place was packed to the max! We were immediately greeted and our phone number taken so that they could notify us when our table was ready. We waited in the car for about 30 minutes. It was totally worth the wait. It's not really good for larger groups, maybe 6 max can be seated together. I had the whiting fish and grits, it came with a biscuit and egg of choice. When I tell you, mmm,mmm good is all I can say. Seasoned just write, grit consistency and flavor were on point. The biscuits were homemade, flaky and not to bready which was perfect. The coffee was good too. I would definitely recommend and will be back to try other items on the menu.

I stopped by Sunflower Family Restaurant for the first time on a Friday during lunch hours, and it was such a pleasant experience. I started with a strawberry lemonade—super refreshing and flavorful (refills are only 25 cents!). The menu is extensive with tons of tempting options, so I asked my server for a recommendation. She suggested one of their most popular dishes: fried flounder with grits. I added a biscuit on the side, and everything was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming, and very down-home. It feels like a spot where locals gather, and I loved the friendly vibe. I also noticed Grecian flags around the restaurant, which made me think the owners might be Greek—a nice, unexpected touch of culture. I’ll definitely be back to try more items from the menu. Highly recommend if you’re in the area and looking for hearty, flavorful food with great service!
