Idle-A-While — Restaurant in Cherokee

We had been here a few years before and Dan was very friendly and the food was awesome, some of the best we have ever had. On that visit we came in a group of 15 and there didn't seem to be any issues with it. Granted it was early and they were not busy yet.

On July 8th 2022 we went again with a group of 5 other people so 7 in all. The place was busy but far from full. As soon as we all walked in we were met with very stern looks. The owner Dan from the beginning was extremely rude and his wife not any better with her eye rolling. We felt like we were a large intrusion. He told us it would be a 2 hour wait for food, that they didn't have a table big enough for 7 and we would have to pull chairs from other tables(1 was all we needed) and he was disappointed none of us were drinking alcohol that night. We told him we would wait and sat down, we knew it would be awhile but we were not in a hurry, we were not demanding any undo attention and yet when he brought the menus he tossed a stack on the table and very rudely asked if we wanted something to drink. We all ordered tea and after we got it we decided to drink it and leave as we were still being treated rudely. My son and his family may return here but I will never set foot in Idle-Awhile again.

I don't need to be treated special I just like to be treated kindly and with a little respect and just to make clear our ticket would have probably been close to 200.00 if not over and our word of mouth testaments would have been phenomenal but.....guess he didn't want...

We had lunch today met Dan and Michelle the owners. Not only do they have the most amazing food fresh cut steak, homegrown vegetables, ice cold drinks but the atmosphere is fantastic. We drove 2 hrs just to try this “Idle-A-While” bar and grill and we were not disappointed google Cherokee, Ks and Idle-A-While. It was the best time and meal we have had in awhile and who knew we knew Uncle Ken and Aunt Virginia and we love muscle cars and trucks!!! We will...

To be polite, we were wearing face masks when we entered the bar. The owner immediately shouted to his wife to "load the shotgun, we are being robbed."

We took the joke with good grace, but the owner followed us to the table, repeatedly insulting us, talking about what BS this was, that Covid is the Democrat's fraud and throwing menus down on the table hard.
