Pros:When you first walk in there is Frank Sinatra photos everywhere! Guess they are a fan. It has that , " was an old house, turned into a restaurant" feel. The Bar area is interesting. It's small with big seats that have backs to them . Eye candy just about every where. Some neat pictures of old A/B celebrities on the walls along with old couple pix. The waitress was very attentive and friendly. She has bus people helping out. They give a bread basket and it was pretty good with a pepper sause dip. I was there for a birthday for my brother, and wow ! I guess everyone goes there for that. Be warned they play a very loud birthday song with a " firework sparkler" on the dessert. It's kind of fun, after the 1 st and 2 and time. I like the atmosphere and it seems like a place that if your visiting Jersey, you should go to at least once. Bathrooms are very clean , I appreciate that. Parking was easy and it's visible from the White horse Pike rt30. I had the Chicken Vincenzo and the Cinnabon Cheesecake. The cheese cake was awesome, highly recommend it. It has chunks of Cinnabon inside of it.
Cons: if you have a medium to large party, it will be tight. It's very close to each table. There's even one table right next to the bathroom door that swings open like an Old western saloon. The bar is tiny , and if you seat on the far side , people walking by can easily tap you on the back. I was hoping for a nice authentic Italian dish, but what I got looked like a frozen breaded chicken patty, with box noodles , and can sauce. Was very disappointed. I thought the sauce was ok though. I got the Chicken Vincenzo. My dish was $22. I've had better for less at a diner. My cheese cake was great , but not $9 great. I took notice to a pattern of neckle and diming you . They up charge for just about everything, and sometimes don't tell you when they offer. Even if you want to have a different type of pasta. I know not every place does this , but they don't split checks. That was a little frustrating, since we don't bring cash. So be ready to Venmo someone else. I ended up paying over $90 for 2 adults and 1 child . That's with water only and 2 desserts. Pretty high. The loud song / birthday fireworks display they do is fun , but gets tiresome after 3 times. And leaves that sulfur smell afterwards for a little. Not a great place to have a conversation, since it gets pretty loud.
All and all , I would give it a shot again if I was in the area for maybe lunch for the bar. But I wouldn't go out of my way unfortunately. I drove 25 minutes to get there. It's a shame , if they did better with the food and the prices, I would of given them 5 stars . I wish them well and many more years of business. I'm Beef and that's...
Read moreWaited a while before anybody acknowledged us standing there. Patrons behind us, in line, asked if I knew how long the wait. I told them I I had no idea as they hadn't acknowledged we were there. Three servers walked past us several times without looking at us or saying hello. Finally, I stopped one to ask if they had a highchair and a booster. I pointed to one of the empty tables to ask if we could sit there. We were seated immediately, after that. Bread, salad, and food were amazing except for my son's food in which he was given three smaller pieces of veal parmigian, and my plate had one piece of veal parmigian, almost equal to the three. Mine was cooked great. Two of my sons were cooked great, but one of his pieces was burnt, pretty bad. Upon bringing to the waitresses' attention, she quickly took his plate to correct the issue. My son said he would keep the rest as it was good and to only replace the burnt piece. She took the entire plate anyway and came back with the "corrected" veal. The restaurant literally removed the third piece from my son's plate and sent it back to the table, never replacing the piece. The food was no longer hot, and he got less food on his plate. Waitress was aware, so we're not happy with her. Although she was very sweet, she never checked if we needed refills on our drinks. Our last round, two glasses of soda, was given to us but very different shades as the syrup clearly ran out and tasted as such. Told our waitress, who said she would check on it and took our glasses. She returned, rather quickly, with two new glasses (the same shade) only to realize that she didn't fix the issue but decided to serve us both diet soda (I guess, thinking, we wouldn't notice the difference?). I asked for the provolone cheese on the salad, and my husband did not. They put so much cheese on the salad and charged us for two servings of cheese. It's not cool. My son asked for a little extra ceasar dressing as it was dry... they charged us for that, too. We've been going to this family restaurant for years and the food is amazing. The place is always packed, so I can't imagine they are hurting for money. Why penny pinch, deceive with the drinks and then reduce the amount of food, rather thank fix it? I don't get it. Will be going back, but not for a while since we now live out of state. I can only hope for a better experience, next time we go, than we had...
Read moreI ate here last night. Do NOT Go there. I don't care what the Local Guide on Google says he is obviously bought and paid for and/or fake. In particular the entry is scary and treacherous. Pray that they don't seat you upstairs,,,very very tiny and steep stairs an EMT's nightmare. The interior is dark and poorly lit. Old and out of date. But to any one with mobility issues of any kind even a cane. This place is a cramped over crowded nightmare. Our reservation was for 7 pm. It took them about 15 minutes to bus and clean the table. No busboy, 4 or 5 waiters running around multi tasking. They were overwhelmed, with no clear purpose. It took another 15 minutes for our server to take our drink order. No Sugar or Splenda for the ice tea. Now for the crap they called dinner. Then another wait of about 15 minutes The house salad was swimming in oil and extra vinegar, and more like a bell peppers salad that a tossed salad. Served with burnt toasted sesame seed bread. We both ordered grilled scallops and shrimp over crab and lobster ravioli. Mushy farm raised shrimp. no lobster or crab in the lousy ravioli's. The server took off the beverages because we had to wait. $71.00 dinner for 2. The server got 20% but he...
