Dear swirly top lovers and customers,

This evening my boyfriend and I decided to frequent what (used to be) one of our favorite and most cherished places. For years we have been coming here for dates and with our own families, but tonight drew the line for the last time we will be coming to Swirly Top. Not only were our ice creams not fully mixed or made with any level of care, the young lady serving us licked her fingers while handling our food as well as others. While we were attempting to enjoy our treats, all three of the staff members made and consumed various items while in full view of patrons and while serving customers, which I found to be not only gross but unprofessional. My ice cream was lacking ingredients from their list (Salted Caramel Pretzel) and the overall flavor and texture of their ice cream has gone downhill while prices increased each season. I’m very disappointed with the way things are obviously being run and served. Maybe it’s just a lack of care in the young kids working, maybe it’s a lack of product availability, but regardless they will be loosing a lifetime of business from a group of locals.

If the employees cared even as much as you'd expect from teenage girls, I'd no doubt give 5 stars. The products they offer here are delicious, and they've gotten expensive, but so has everything so I don't necessarily blame anyone for that. But the workers here often just don't seem to try very hard with their jobs. I get it, it's an ice cream stand run by young girls. I'm not expecting an experience of luxury. But just basic things, like making sure the stuff is mixed well, paying attention to the order in which people showed up, and by far the number one complaint I have is hygiene. I've seen workers eat and touch food and toppings while preparing orders for customers. I've seen flies in the toppings. I can't happily consume something that may or may not have insects and/or someone else's bodily...
