If you're looking for a delightful dining experience with a homely feel, Chestnuthill Star Diner is a must-visit. This charming eatery boasts an impressive menu that captures the essence of traditional American comfort food while also introducing a touch of inventive flair. From the fluffy, perfectly browned pancakes at breakfast to the hearty, mouth-watering roast turkey dinner, every dish is prepared with care and served with a smile. The staff here is wonderfully attentive, ensuring that each guest's needs are promptly met with friendliness and professionalism. What truly sets Chestnuthill Star Diner apart, however, is its commitment to quality and freshness. Ingredients are sourced locally where possible, contributing to the vibrant flavors and overall quality of the meals. "I went to dinner for the first time and I hope it won't be the last. I'll try another one to give American famous dinners a chance. I've always been sad to see them closing or disappearing, as they are a part of American history. Maybe this particular dinner had a bad day, as the vegetables for the steak seemed overcooked and probably taken from some soup:( The steak seemed boiled or fried in water rather than grilled, as water was pouring out of it. The quality of the meat wasn't good. The potato also wasn't cooked through and was half raw. There was no A1 sauce and other spices and sauces were left on the windowsill, where they got too hot from the sun. It wasn't a good idea to leave them there. I didn't want to risk trying a free cake. The atmosphere was nice but the service wasn't very attentive, although the waitress was pleasant."

It has been 6 years since my last visit to this place and it was under different ownership at that time. I was dying for a Turkey Club and the other diner's in my area were all closed early so I took a chance they would be open. When I arrived and walked in the door I could sense immediately something was different... even for a Tuesday night it was not crowded and that was not the normal for this place.

Once I was seated i was served by Lisa who was extremely nice and helpful. I inquired about the lack of patrons and noticed a slight change in the decor so I asked if it was under new ownership and she did inform me it has been under new owners for the last 3 months.

I explained to her my last visit and how long ago it was and how the food was not very desirable. It was either overcooked or just bland. However I was in the mood for a Turkey Club and this was the only place open.

Well, I am happy to say the days of overcooked and bland food seem to be long gone. The club was not only huge the slices of turkey were thick and tasty,,, while I am sure it was pre-cut and packaged as this is a diner the turkey was just dang near perfect in taste. The veggies for the club (Lettuce Onions, Tomatoes) also were crisp fresh and flavorful. I don't normally pluck a tomato from my sandwich jus to eat it but I did tonight.

The club came with a side of fries... They were ok... no seasoning or salt which is great as I don't like to add junk. I want to taste the natural potato, but these just didn't have the flavor I was expecting after biting into the Turkey club... it was the let down of the meal. I also ordered a pepsi for the meal then a coffee chaser as desert. The Coffee was fantastic. I am more of a fan of diner coffee than I am of starbucks or dunkin' hell I take minimart coffee over those two places but here the coffee was really good.

The waitress (lisa) and I had a brief talk about the new owners and the changes they were making which goes a long way as the diner is definitely a bit dated, but the remodel they have done so far is very appealing and it definitely makes it look like they will go a long way as the progress with the overall interior and exterior facelift.

I give this a solid 4 stars, sorry no 5 because french fries served with a Turkey Club should be as tasty as the club itself, but alas they were just bland, I would suggest finding a different brand or supplier for your fries. You're asking $12.00 for a club with fries, so the least you can do is have fries that have flavor... but the Club was amazing. Please don't change a thing with the Turkey Club, I will definitely be back for that, even though I live over...

Food was your basic average run of the mill diner food so no surprises there. Great pancake sizes. Thus would rate the food 3/5 but gets a 2/5 due to a non compliance of a simple welldone homefries request. There was absolutely no difference in the welldone homefries and the regular homefries our second seat ordered. Which i guess in a way is commendable how consistently alike they were?? Either way a ball was dropped whether it was the server not notifying the kitchen properly of the request, or the kitchen just blatantly chosing to ignore the request. Hopefully management can sort that out with their staff.

As well the toast for our orders never came out, we had to notify the server, hostess, and a cook?? Before even getting them and when we got them. Only one order of toast came out. So yea we had to go through 3 separate people before receiving something we ordered.

Other than the toast daboicle, the food actually came out relatively quick, even though our server apologized for the wait, suggesting that the food here usually takes quicker. So kudos to that.

Although we consistently had to remind our server for things we included in our original order. We never got our waters, had to remind her about the water. Eventually they came. You know our toast situation already. Had to remind her about the hot sauce, which when we finally received, the bottle was completely empty, this is not a joke, I repeat not a hyperbole. Did the server not notice she was bringing us over an empty bottle of hot sauce? If not that is concerning.. if so why bring it? If your all out perhaps suggest an alternative?

Anyway I would also like to apologize for the impatience of seat 1, he's gets excited quick and can lack patience. This gets enhanced when dealing with ineptitude. Nonetheless sorry.

Also the coffee sucked. And we all know the standard for diner coffee is bottom barrel so that fact I had to make point of that is something to...

Worst place in the Poconos! Discrimination+ Forced 18% tip + mediocre food= 1 star review! Probably one of the worst reviews I had to leave. The only good thing about this place was the waitress who served us, she was polite and great serving us our food however I did find it rude to give us our check before we could take a few bites out of our food (what if we wanted something else like pie or to go?). The food was mediocre at best, the oatmeal was runny and very bland, the French toast and eggs had no flavor, paid $3 for half of hard unripened avocado and the kids didn't like their chocolate chip pancakes. We felt rushed eating. The worst part was at check out. A lady with a thick foreign accent took my receipt. I gave her my card to pay, when it came time for a tip. She told me 18% or whatever I wanted to input. I said ok and tried to round my bill out to an even number which would have been an $8 tip. She said no, erased my tip and said I "had" to pay an 18% tip. I told her no, I know how tipping works and I could give whatever amount I choose, even to give no tip if I wanted (which I wasn't). She had the audacity to look at me and say this is America! She was literally implying based on my skin color, which Im of Hispanic descent, to basically tell me, the country I was born and raised in (which based on her accent, I'm 💯% she was not), how this system works! I told her I was born here and that forcing someone to pay 18% is unlawful. I told her is that a Pennsylvania law or your rule? She wouldn't give me an answer. I told her I want to leave the amount I wanted, she basically held my card hostage until I hit 18%. I told her I was going to leave a bad review and dispute it with my bank. She said she could careless. I would stay clear from here and head over to Meadowbrook Diner where the food and service was...
