I come here every so often with my mother, it’s calming. Food is typically really good and to comment back on someone else’s review, I have not seen a single women working there. All male and I’ve been seated in the front and back. No females. That really isn’t an issue for me personally but I wanted to bring it up because I’ve been here several times now the past year and all of those times, no female. Maybe they’re off? But everything single time? The reason for my 3 stars was because my service was a little weird tonight. My vodka cranberry was way too strong, I asked the gentlemen if he could add cranberry to it , he did, but didn’t make a difference and nor did he ask if it was better. Second, it took over 10 minutes to pay. That’s not really an issue but I wanted to bring it up. Steak was so rare, I ordered medium rare. Third, I felt like I was being forced to tip, and I understand when you go to a restaurant tipping is highly encouraged and if you don’t have enough to tip at a fine dining experience- don’t go! I believe that 100% but tonight was different. He watched while I filled out and receipt… almost seeing what type of tip id leave….I chose no tip on receipt because I didn’t have a good experience, nothing personal and the bill was already 120$. He questioned me, and pulled me back over and said “ no tip!”. At first I felt embarrassed. So I went over to my wallet and the only thing I had were a 5, and 3 20’s. I felt literally forced to give a 25$ tip. I in fact brought the 5 dollar over, and he pointed to the receipt and said “ no, this is how much” * pointing to 20 and above*. So inappropriate. I reached in my wallet and gave 25 and he looked at me while a big ole smile and said “ thank you!”….. again, I understand you should always tip, if felt right. It didn’t feel right and almost demanding a tip, unprofessional. If the owner agrees with this behavior...
Read moreI would rate my recent experience at La Ferme in negative stars if I could.
My wife and I traveled from New England to celebrate my mother's 90th birthday. She chose La Ferme. I do not know why.
The setting is attractive. Beware numerous steps inside and out which can challenge elderly walkers. Staff were friendly but are very poorly trained. Our waiter recorded my wife's entree order incorrectly. He delivered the wrong entree. He apologized when the wrong dish was delivered along with our other meals and said he would bring the correct dish in 6-8 minutes. Okay. Accidents happen. 45 minutes and many loud complaints and bad excuses later, after all other meals had been eaten, after many diners around us had arrived and received their meals, finally her dish arrived. No, it was not complicated. She ordered chicken.
Our complaints to one staff person were met with "I'm not your waiter." Another staff person rolled his eyes and gossiped with his peer about our complaints within earshot.
To his credit the owner manager comped our food but not our drinks or my mother's pre-ordered birthday cake. My elderly mother was in tears. My wife was hungry but put on a good face for my mother. I am furious.
Train your staff! get the order right the first time and -if an error occurs- it is the restaurant's responsibility, not one waiter. Splitting ("not me! it was him!")" is what third graders do on the playground. Responsible professionals do not smirk, roll their eyes, gossip, or blame others. Advise customers on your website that inside and outside stairs without ramps may be challenging or even dangerous and finally, when you piss off a 90-year-old or her birthday with her loved ones present have the grace to comp the entire event.
I will never return to La Ferme and my mother will never again have the opportunity to...
Read moreWe live very close to La Ferme and have supported the restaurant over the years. Last night went in for a drink with an out of town guest ( who has also dined there several times before). We were happy to see the bar had reopen after closure due to COVID. While at the bar we asked the chef if we could have dinner and what time the kitchen closed and told us 10pm . This was Friday night.. It went downhill from there. We were a party of 3. We ordered mussels , scallops and stea. The steak came 15 miniutes before the rest of the efood. The wait staff was inattentive and rude and made it clear that we were not welcome . We were told that our server Jackie from Jersey was annoying by other wait staff. As we finished our meal we had to call the Manager due to the terrible and intimidating service. He did not seem concerned that we were unhappy.
We were told they had to finish service early as the neighborhood did not permit noise after 9pm .We live a few doors down this is not the case . The server (who was standing behind us, with about 10 other wait staff with tehir arms crossed ) just stood glaring at us making us feel very uncomfortable . The restaurant was broken down to clean the carpets while we were eating and chairs were stacked against the windows. The Manager said there was no other day availble to clean the carpets really ? We have never had a worse experience . The restaurant should still care about customers. Clearly the wait staff could not care less. The Bill came...
