My grandson was hungry. So, i decided to stop here to get him some breakfast. I regret not turning around immediately as I walked through the first set of doors.
It was there. I was hit with a smell of burnt or burning food. I personally do not like the smell. Especially if it lingers for an entire day. As I walked through the next set of doors, the smell got worse. Now I knew that this wasn't good. But my 6 year old grandson is hungry.
Mind you that this is 8 o'clock in the morning. The sun was shining into the dining area, and there I could see the lingering smoke of the burnt food. The smell to me was horrible, and now I can see the evidence.
The highest compliment I could give is here. We were greeted immediately by the seating host. He was friendly and led us through the smoke to our table. The dining area was clean. Smokey and smelly, but overall, it was clean and seemed in order.
This is where it slowly becomes even worse. We sat for about 4-5 minutes before our waitress took our drink order. It was 8:06 when she took our drink order. She did not return until 8:11 with coffee and a small apple juice. At the time, there were only two other tables that were occupied.
Once we received our drinks, we placed our order. My grandson wanted the Build Your Own Jr. Grand Slam and the Jr. "Premium" Chicken Tenders. While all I asked for was the side of biscuit and gravy.
Our waitress was perky and energetic. It was nice to see, but it just didn't fit in with the slow, smoke fillled, stinky room. Her demeanor definitely did not reflect or match my mood. Of course, by that time, her energy was just plain annoying.
As I checked, the time after I finished my first cup of coffee, which had already gone cold, was 8:18. I look over to the food prep area, and i could see plates of food under the warming lamps. I'm assuming they were warming lamps. 2 minutes later, our waitress comings bouncing back with a smile and tells me they have no biscuits for my order. I then just ask for a short stack of pancakes.
My cup is empty and there's nothing in her hands. She could have brought more coffee. Or maybe with her energy it would be too dangerous for her to bounce across the room with a hot pot of coffee.
I kept watching the food under the lamps. By the time the food was moved from under the lamps it was 8:30. The food that was sitting there was my grandson's order. When our food was delivered, it was by the seating host. He didn't deserve my verbal dissatisfaction with the service, but I asked him to convey the message. By now, my cup is empty. So I asked him kindly for a refill.
See the pictures of food. The Jr Grand Slam we received was not like the picture. I laughed at the waitress when she asked, "Do you want it just like the picture?" I repied, "I seriously doubt it'll look like the picture." And I was right.
All the pancakes were overcooked on one side and on a separate plate. Nothing looked consistent. The eggs were probably equivalent to 2½ to 3 eggs scrambled. The chicken tenders were anything but premium.
My pancakes definitely were overcooked and nearly burnt. My attempt to cut through the pancakes with my fork was unsuccessful. I had to use the knife to cut through the thick, overcooked layer. But I managed to get through it.
My pancakes were warm, but not so for the Jr Grand Slam. The food had just cooled enough to feel cold. We both didn't finish our food. By the time we were done receiving our food, the time was 8:30. The second cup of coffee was horrible, and it tasted watered-down down.
3 stars was not fair. 2.5 would be better. Our bill did not reflect the change made. I struggled with not leaving a tip. But I left 16%. I'm mean, but not that mean. My minimum for better service and honest communication is 20%. This place is independently owned by who I assume is Navajo. I'm Navajo. I won't comment on service provided to non-Navajos because i mind my own business.
I wouldn't...
Read moreI had a bad experience two year's ago...took my mom to dinner on her birthday..she loves Mexican food but she couldn't find a dish to her liking..so she went with the Roast beef with mashed potatoes..All employee's we're focus more on the TV then they customer's, which I thought was unprofessional..to top it off our drinks weren't refill at all. 40 mins we finally got our meal...Omg the Roast beef seem reheated and dry like it was cooked the day before..I ask our server which we hardly saw thru out the evening. So we ask if my mom could order something else, she didn't suggest nothing for my mom..I worked at a lot of Restaurants in Arizona..but this place was far from good customer service and the food wasn't fresh and appealing as they came out..I ask for the Manager and they replied, he doesn't come in until later or never comes in because of other establishment he needs to run and overlook..so I ask for a supervisor on shift..but No Supervisor too..so who watches over their employee's. I figured these employee's were not properly trianed in All area as to uphold a business on their own..with the food that was serve to my elderly mother was definitely a health risk of getting Somalia or cross contamination illness.. overall if Denny's want good paying Customers to come back they need Am and Pm supervision on shift daily to implement the important standard of running a franchise establishment and professionalism in a work place..I hope it as improved today..word of advice.. those television instalments isn't making a good impression on the Employee's..The majority of the staff are focus more on the TV rather then giving ther full attention to thier paying Customers. Sincerely a lifetime resident of the heart of the reservation...
Read moreWe had dinner here on July 2nd. Floor and some tables were filty. Their were at least 8 employees behind the counter. We only saw one young employee( male, average height, slender, with glasses) that actually cleaned few tables. He even changed his gloves each time👍Our waitress( male somewhat heavy set, wore black mask) wasn't that attentive. Our glass (water) was empty. He was to busy hob knobbing with the employees. Next morning (July 3rd). We were there quarter to 6 the door was still locked. We had asked prior to leaving the night before what time they were open for breakfast(5:30AM). Both bathroom was filty. Toilets hasn't been cleaned( rings). Both stalls in women, toilets was not flushed and no seat covers. There were toilet papers everywhere in the stalls and floor. and trash was full. My father in law and spouse stated the mens bathroom was filthy as well. There was no toilet papers, no soap or seat covers in the mens. Father in law and spouse grabbed paper towel and wet it to clean the seat.. It's funny does the employee(s) even wash their hands with soap prior to leaving the bathroom? How can employees wash their hands properly if there's no soap? In the doors(both)prior to leaving the bathrooms. There's sigh posted *Please let the employees know if the bathroom needs to be cleaned. *Employees must was their hands. Bathroom should be cleaned once the restaurant is closed and before it opens. We (myself, apouse and in law) let the hostess know that both bathrooms were filty. Does the health department even go here and inspect the place? Before deciding to eat here walk through and check for cleaniness and especially...
