This is our 2nd time here and we will NOT return. Our experience was appalling.
We were greeted in by the Korean older waitress to sit at a 2-seater table. Mind you, the place was relatively empty at the time. We asked to move to a bigger table next to us, as we were anticipating to order more food than usual. There were already parties of two at other 4-seater tables. However, the waitress gave us a dirty look and much pushback. We then noticed a sudden attitude shift. At first, we thought nothing of it. However, other guests came in and a party of two was seated at a 4- seater table with no issues.
We gave her the benefit of the doubt. The whole time we were there she was being super friendly to the other customers, saying “enjoy” and “thank you.” Unfortunately, she ignored us and didn’t provide us water, even after politely asking. Our food was dumped on the table without a word.
I understand there is an organization in seating customers but we felt extremely unfairly singled out. We dine out often at many types of Asian establishments - so I know that service is not a forte. It was clear her attitude toward us was intentional. I read another review reporting discrimination here. As a Korean, I don’t understand why you would discriminate against your own ethnicity. I am all for supporting local businesses but it is a shame that this happened. Please think twice before dining here.
[I will say the food is decent and portioned well. Unfortunately, it felt like the food was sitting for a while before it was brought...
Read moreWhen you walk in the place, it feels modern, sleek, and clean. It wasn't too busy on a Sunday, we went here shortly after opening. It looked like a fun place to eat. So much food to choose from, and they have a good variety of soju & beer The lady who helped me was super nice and walked me through the menu since it was my first time here. She also provided some great recommendations. She had provided me with some history telling me the first location started in Seoul, Korea, and the lady pictured in the restaurant is the one who started Bindae-tteok and has shared her special recipe to other people/ restaurants who currently use it today. I ordered:
Bindae-tteok (mung bean pancake) - This was so crispy and tasty it came with a tasty sauce.
Mandu- Crispy and perfectly filled.
Cheese balls - Lightly sugar coated and went perfectly with each cheesy bite.
Fried chicken wings - This was still crispy when we got back home. It was the perfect crunchy bite each time.
I can't wait to come back soon and try more items like the UFO kimchi fried rice and...
Read moreMy husband and I are always looking to try new restaurants and when we came across Soonheene on yelp, we knew we had to try it. I fell in love with Korean food a couple years ago and I’ve been dying to try Tteokbokki with all that it comes with. (Instant isn’t bad but nothing beats the real thing) We ordered it from Soonheene and it exceeded what I was expecting it to taste like. It was delicious! We also tried the spicy pork bbq entree and the mayak gimbap. Also very good! And oh my goodness, their kimchi has been by far the best I’ve tasted too. We will definitely be...
