The Brass Lantern Pub and Grill — Restaurant in Chippewa Falls

I know lots of "local dives" that have great food and service. Unfortunately this is not one of them.

It's not much to look at from the outside. The inside is bright, with lots of typical bar items, including video poker games, pool table, jukebox, etc.

Came here on a Monday afternoon, after the lunch crowd. The was one other patron at the bar. We were the only table eating food. There were several staff at the bar, including the owner/cook, chatting it up and having a good time, and we got off to a great start. Our server got our party of 5 settled in with a clean wiped table and waters.

The menu has typical bar, with includes unique burgers that we took a big interest in. We got several different sandwiches and burgers. All of them were "okay", but nobody was raving about their orders. Specifically, the fries were warm, but not hot, the smashburgers had good char, but not much flavor, and the presentation was not appetizing (the Cream Cheese on the Olive Burger looked curdled).

We did share a couple pieces of the homemade cheesecakes (which were the non-baked whipped versions), and that was nice finish to the mediocre meal.

The server was friendly, but didn't bother to check up on us. While she was socializing with the bar people, we had to fetch napkins, ask for waters, and then the check.

Hey, so we stopped by last night for burgers before a show, right? The bartender was great, the vibe was good. We ordered apps and our food, but after an hour, still nothing. We asked, they said 8 minutes, still no apps. An hour and a half later, they said 10 more minutes. Turns out, DoorDash was taking priority over us! Stopped in on a Friday night for a drink and food. They had a Friday fish fry but I chose a burger. Service on a Friday night at 5:30pm was prompt, our order was taken and food arrived in a very reasonable amount of time, waitress was attentive and food was great! The setting is your typical WI bar and grill, but did not feel "divey" at all. There was a small seating area separate from the bar and while there were clearly regulars sitting at the bar, we never felt as if we were out of place. Worth the stop,...
