Wow. Owner thanked me for my original feedback below and then called me "hard to please" in his response. If he knew that I was going to be particular from the start, why didn't he make every effort to follow the specifications that were mutually agreed upon? As a small business owner myself, I expect all of my customers to be hard to please, and I make it my business to please them, which is how I have won over customers from much larger competitors for the past 20 years. For the record, three servers were not specified in the contract, but I wrote in my notes that the owner told me there would be three during our first phone conversation, and I had a cash tip prepared for the third person. I don't want to get into a public squabble with you. My event is over and no one knew anything didn't go as planned except my husband, the party coordinator and myself. I wish you future success in your business.
Chicken and veggie tacos were good, but I also ordered al pastor tacos and the owner didn't tell his staff. While signing the final contract, I pointed out that al pastor tacos were not specifically listed on the order, and Carlos said these are always included as the third choice, but apparently not. He gave me a small discount for the error. 3 servers were promised and only 2 showed up, so the line moved slowly. I had requested a certain serving time and luckily I noticed that it was stated incorrectly on the final contract - the owner responded as if the corrected time was due to a lack of communication on my part, even though my serving time was specified on the original request for quote. This would have been a more positive experience except for the communication errors, and Carlos came across a bit snippy in some of his emails. Event turned out fine since my guests didn't know they missed out on the pork tacos, and my special requests were...
Read moreI am writing to forewarn other potential catering customers: last Wednesday, I signed a contract and submitted a deposit for catering to occur Saturday. The party was for 50 people. I received an email stating my date and time had been booked on the calendar pending a deposit, due ASAP. I knew it was last minute, so I submitted the deposit via Venmo and confirmed that Sac Tacos received my deposit. It was confirmed by the owner via text, and I said I would see them Saturday. At 1pm on Saturday, they were supposed to have arrived. My guests had starting arriving, so I didn't realize until 1:45pm that we still didn't have food. I reached out via phone call after sending a text asking what the time of arrival would be. I was sent to voicemail. I sent another text saying, please update me ASAP. I received a text message saying, "so sorry, food is not coming. My guys messed up and didn't put it on the calendar."
I had to scramble during our party to find a nearby Mexican food caterer (THANK YOU, LOS JARRITOS!!!) and pick up food, so my guests were waiting over an hour and a half for food.
If I hadn't confirmed the deposit and contract date with the owner, I could buy the "blame my guys" story. Either way, the best way to say "sorry, I messed up", is to pick up the phone and let a customer know right away instead of dodging calls and responding via text.
This no-show caused a lot of stress for my husband and I, in the middle of our daughter's 1st birthday party, and robbed us of 2 hours of being able to relax and host our event. I am sure the food from the food trucks is good, but because of this experience, I would be weary of using this company...
Read moreCarlos made our experience with Sac Tacos an unfortunate one. I personally ordered for an entire event at our company and asked for specific vegetarian options due to dietary restrictions. We made this extremely clear as this would have been a deal breaker for us. Upon arrival of the food, the vegetarian options were missing. I immediately tried contacting him and had to wait until he could call me back just for him to say that at this point there was nothing he could do, except for refunding us just that platter. Of course we kept it extremely professional as we expressed how our employees had no food and needed a solution. He then texted me that he makes errors just like "I'm positive you have made errors at your job". This response really showed his professionalism in how he handles situations with his clientele. We had to purchase a veggie platter from a different restaurant and the entire event was pushed back as we had to take the time to drive somewhere else and purchase additional food. We figured for the amount we paid we would get enough food for our staff and good customer service. We made an order for three different parties three different orders and we each had issues unfortunately. They expressed their own situation to him and he responded by mentioning MY name and saying that I complimented his food personally. I did not even attend their event and I never complimented his food or even mentioned it from our event. Please stop mentioning my name and spreading misinformation as that is completely false. The food was average not just by my standards but that was the feedback we received from our...
