Before my experience today,I tried to order dinner the night before and was told I could get the last order of rice and pork which looked liked the scraps. Only problem was it was Friday at 6:56pm and they close at 8. How do you not make more food for a Friday night, so I decided Iāll try again the next day. I would have to say this was a confusing and frustrating experience today grabbing lunch. I go in and was greeted by the lady behind the counter and said it was my first time here since they had no food the night before. She seemed like I was bothering her by not knowing that they do not have a paper menu. Iām confused by the fact there are no prices on the 1 menu they have for their entire business! She said it was going to be a few minutes which didnāt bother me but, what did bother me was when I drove five minutes down the street to my house. The shredded cheese was half melted and luke warm at best and from working in restaurants my whole life, that steak was reheated. And why canāt you put the beans on the side? I mean really itās a small side I mean you donāt even have queso for the nachos. My girlfriend had one bite and laughed at the poor excuse for nachos and she refused to eat it. I also asked for a takeout menu as its customary that if you like a restaurant you want to call and order bigger orders. Instead, I got a rude āno paper menusā and she just turned around. I wonāt be coming back or recommending them...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreStaying in Dunkirk had me craving real food. I was surprised to find Tacqueria Mexicana, an authentic Mexican restaurant, less than a 5 minute walk from where I was staying. I walked in and was greeted by a busy gentleman manning a very small service counter. The place isn't the fanciest, but they have a clear and concise menu system with daily specials and a great selection of soda to pair with your food. This is the type of restaurant designed for high volume takeout or small parties dining in. It is not a sit down full dine in experience. I ordered a chorizo burrito which was not only delicious but was clearly crafted with love. The attention to detail in the assembly of the burrito lead to one of the best end results I've had in some time. The size wasn't the largest, but the proportions were proper and it left me feeling satisfied and full. The spicy red sauce is also by far the best home made sauce I've had from an establishment of this type. If it wasn't for them being closed on Sundays, I would have visited two more times for breakfast and dinner on my short 3 day trip to Dunkirk. HIGHLY...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTIP: Their business hours are a lie. Their google listing says they're open until 8, but I drove a half hour just to eat there and arrived at 6:32 PM. I was greeted by an employee who barked "CLOSED" at me the moment I opened the door. They even have a revised closing time on their door that says they close at 7, but apparently a half hour is not enough time for them to make a to-go order of a few tacos. So who knows what their actual closing time is. If you really want to eat here, I would recommend going for lunch, and skip the later hours all together. They make decent food though, too bad I didn't...
