Rochester New York 6/17/2024 The Flower/Flour City 11:50am flight out
In the middle of this quiet yet busy airport, you will find a retro-styled diner. Playing on the jukebox A real, personal airplane in apple red is suspended over the booth area. The atmosphere is modern meets old-school with large comfortable booths; not the things in Denny’s where you sit down and the seat sags into a hole you can hardly dig yourself out of, especially after a hearty breakfast. Bonus, there was plug for my laptop at the booth. Yay!
The tables and floors were clean as if it was just opened vibe. The restaurant was self-served from placing the order to paying the bill, yet my food was delivered with a smile
The menu has a few options so don’t expect variety but it caters to a specific branding. I ordered a simple BLT, hold the mayo, with fries and an old-fashioned cocktail. The app had issues but Craig was able to take care of my order and payment without an issue or me repeating myself.
The bar had all the old-time favorites as well as some new crafts. I was pleasantly surprised at the bartender/server’s execution of my old-fashioned drink. Craig clearly knew what to do. I say this because most bartenders I have run into don’t even know how to make an Old Fashioned and, after they look it up, they always make it just plain wrong. Thank you, Craig! The food came quickly and Craig delivered it to my table. Served hot, perfectly cooked, and picture perfect. Bravo to the chef. I know it was a BLT, hold the mayo, but you don’t know how many times the bread was soggy or the fries were limp. Not at the Flight Deck Diner! Bread was crisp, fries were too and piping hot, and the bacon was crisp yet not oily in the least. My fries were unsalted and that was perfect. If you got a moment, stop by the Flight Deck Diner in Rochester NY. Grab an old fashion the way it should...
Read moreI want to express how completely unacceptable my experience was. Our group placed mobile orders and waited 30 minutes only to be told that one of the burgers was frozen and that order had to be canceled. That’s disappointing on its own, but my personal experience was even worse.
I waited at the bar for 10 minutes, attempting to get the server’s attention four different times. I was told “hold on” or “be right there” three separate times, with not a single actual follow-up. This wasn’t even during a busy rush—it was relatively empty. There was no attempt to greet me, help me, or even acknowledge that my order hadn’t arrived at all.
In the end, I had to leave without receiving anything I paid for, and I couldn’t even get someone to process a cancellation or refund because no one would address me at all. I essentially paid for food that never existed—a ghost order.
The service was unprofessional, discourteous, and downright insulting. No customer should be ignored like that, especially at an airport where travelers rely on timely service. I will absolutely never return here when flying out of Rochester. It’s embarrassing that this is the impression my hometown airport diner gives visitors—a...
Read moreRelying on a poorly programmed website to order food is not ideal in the slightest, especially when your order somehow gets lost in their system, no communication on that until after the 40-minute timer. After over an hour of waiting my order finally came out and it was wrong, and I was told what I ordered was not what their end said, but you wouldn’t have known that because all you did was take a quick glance from afar at my order number rather than confirming with me. I then waited another half hour for my food, and the food wasn’t even good. Overpriced and incredibly bland, no apologies from the staff, just abysmal. I work in the world of customer service so I am aware that it’s not easy, but this is just not how to handle anything. I didn’t look at google reviews ahead of time as I would rather give a place a fair chance, but after the fact I can see that most people are unhappy with the service here. A...
