I had been waiting to make the hour drive to eat here, and it did not disappoint!
The atmosphere of the restaurant is calming and inviting. I love the decor choices and openness. The staff was amazingly inviting.
The menu has variety, but is not overwhelming or "novel-like". The chef has carefully chosen a selection of dishes that customers will love.
I started my meal with the crostini, which has ricotta, fig, and honey on top. The bread had a nice outer crisp and a soft interior, and the toppings were out of this world.
Next, I had the special- seafood stuffed shells with a side salad. The shells were amazing- filled with seafood and coated in a delicious cream sauce. The salad had 2 dressing options- ranch or vinaigrette. I loved the acidic punch delivered by the vinaigrette, as I often find dressings to not be strong enough. My mom ordered the same thing and was also a huge fan.
My husband chose the tuna tartar ( which of course I sampled). Very fresh and tasty, with notes of lemon and sesame running throughout.
Though I was stuffed at this point, I couldn't pass on the peach free-form tart with lemoncello whipped cream. Such a balanced dessert!
My only moment of sadness was that they ran out of corn bisque just before we ordered- I will have to go back to try it soon! ( I also have my eye on the mussels- so much food, so little stomach room...)
Overall, an amazing (and needed) addition to Rome's culinary options! If you haven't been, it...
Read moreMy friends and I were in the Rome area and made our way to the Vine & Fig on a suggestion from a local couple. What a find! We were warmly greeted at the door and waited a short time while they set up a larger table for my group. Large wine and beer selection along with eclectic house designed, spirit based drink menu. Bourbon blended with multiple bitters types and served in a smoked glass, really- filled with smoke from a stick the bartender (Mike) lit on fire! Really cool presentation. Plus several custom and original non-alcoholic drinks too. The menu has great foodie choices. Interesting dishes with a slight spin. Open kitchen environment so you see all being made in front of you. We all had delicious meals - pickled veggies, crispy smashed salt potatoes and burrata salad to start; Cubano sandwiches, Muscles and the Shrimp boil, both served in the pot style. All amazingly flavorful and with an original twist. Compliment to the Chef. You can’t go wrong with this restaurant choice for your dining dollars. We’ll certainly go back when in the area again....
Read moreI love going to Vine & Fig. I usually go to Vine & Fig after my shift at a restaurant, so, it's usually just for a cocktail. Mike, the bartender, is amazing. He remembers me and my preferred drink. I have also tried some of his specialty and they are fabulous! But what makes Vine & Fig different than anywhere else in Rome is Carlie! I haven't had all her food, but the food I have had has been absolutely amazing. Her flavors are spot on and it's always cooked to perfection! I have been there enough to at least see all of her dishes. Although, as I see them go out the look delicious. I look foward to continue trying Carlie's dishes. Besides her food Carlie and her staff bring the most welcoming...
