Date of visit: Saturday July 8th Fantastic Barbecue restaurant. We ordered Brisket & Turkey Meal platters which come with cornbread, and 2 sides. We tried 4 different sides to try and get a well rounded idea of how they do BBQ here. We had the mac & cheese, Cheesy Grits, cream corn & Fried Okra. The meats are perfectly smoked and well flavoured. The meat is tender and juicy. The sides are very tasty, and while they come in small containers, the containers are misleading. The flavours are on point, and everything was absolutely delightful. We also had the jalapeno hushbpuppies as an appetizer – and they were so good and addictive. The restaurant offers different dining options – you can line up for a take out meal – that you can eat on their outdoor patio, or you can wait for indoor dining. The third option is to sit in the bar. We ate in the bar, and did not have to wait at all, and the service was amazing. The bartender was all alone, and she not only served every dining patron, but also every drinking patron, plus had to make and serve drinks for the patio patrons. She did all of this competently, and without ever losing her cool and always remaining calm – even though she was clearly very busy. The prices are very reasonable. Our full meal including drinks and app was only $65. They offer 6 different house made barbecue sauces that made the meal even more enjoyable. We tried all of them multiple times through the meal and each one was amazing. I would highly recommend visitors to Saratoga Springs make this a must do restaurant. The crowds of locals and tourists will back this up.

Half a chicken, bones and all. After a stellar BBQ dinner last week I was in the mood for more, so I picked PJ's upon recommendation by my supervisor. He had recommended me the previous location, so I figured this one had to be good too. Put my order in over the phone ahead of time, going for the 1/2 State Fair Chicken Platter with Corn on the Cob and Mac & Cheese. Coming to a little over $22 for the whole thing, an acceptable price. Weirdly I was not able to put my pickup for 4PM, but was offered either 3:50 or 4:20. Pickup was nice and easy however, as there's a checkout counter as soon as you walk in. Back home I opened everything up to find it pretty well insulated, keeping my meal nice and warm. The chicken had some nice flavor to it, smokey, but not too crispy. I'm glad I went with the 1/2 chicken order, as it turned out there's not actually much meat on those bones. It is an experience eating the thing, sucking away on bones and nibbling off chunks of meat, but I wasn't a fan of how messy it meant getting. Felt like I was at the renaissance festival. The mac & cheese was nice and thick, a great cheesy flavor, and with noddles that were just a little mushy. And finally the corn on the cob, was, well, corn on the cob. I was given a packet of butter and together they combine to make one of the best shucking foods out there, probably my favorite part of the meal. Overall this was a nice dinner, but not as good as the one I had from last week. If I were to come back, it would be to dine in, not take out. And probably get the pulled chicken sandwich for less mess.

It's unfortunate to have to rate this establishment as mediocre. The beer (on tap) was pretty good and local, while the food flavorful and freshly cooked. However, the portions were too small and overpriced. What you see pictured here totaled just about $70, intended to feed 2 adults and 2 children. On Google the suggestion was comparable to Dinosaur BBQ (NYC), and Rodney Scott's (SC) - it was neither. Though flavorful, again we were highly disappointed with the small portions as compared to their price tags. We ordered two kids chicken tenders meals (pictured), which included two sides and a beverage. Their meals had 2 baked pre-frozen chicken strips (which weren't cooked thru), both had an apple sauce and a capri sun, while one came with a ½ ear of corn and the other with a 2 oz container of Mac & Cheese. My 8 yr old children were not impressed, and were still hungry. For my husband and myself, we had a meal for two (or at least we thought we did). It came with three meats and two regular sides for about $40+, and we ordered two beers (one local on tap, the other a budlight in a can). Regular sides were just about 4oz (equivalent to a ½ cup of anything). We had the Mac & Cheese (taste and texture was that of stove top cooked) with no flavor and the Potato Salad was pretty tasty, as well as the corn bread. For meats, we had the 3 Region Tour which included smoked turkey (excellent), brisket (excellent), and dark meat chicken (also excellent) - all portions though were just too small for one adult, let alone two adults. Just disappointing. In closing, the staff who took our order (and helped us decide on our order) were most kind and knowledgeable of the offerings. This made us feel good about the environment and the selections. We only wish they could of been forth coming with the portion sizes. Unfortunately we will not be returning.

Last time I visited, I took Ribs & Pulled Pork home in 2019 and it was delicious. Took a friend recently for lunch (Sept 2024), his first time. He ordered the Pulled (regular) Pork sandwich & Fries. He ate everything with the regular BBQ sauce but said the pork was too dry. I chose the Trio Sliders and decided to try one each of the Regular Pulled Pork, the NC Vinegar Pulled Pork, & the Beef Brisket with a side of Mac & Cheese. I ate the NC Vinegar Pulled Pork slider and tried the Mac & Cheese while there. I brought the other 2 sliders home along with the Mac & Cheese. Both my pulled pork sliders were also dry and I had the Carolina Vinegar BBQ sauce on them. The buns were fresh and I loved the Carolina Vinegar bbq sauce!! The Brisket slider was full of burnt ends and it was also too dry and hard to eat. The Mac & Cheese was nothing special and I ended up throwing it out along with the rest of the Brisket Slider when I got home. We definitely did not enjoy our meals on this outing!! The staff, the atmosphere, and the many dining areas were awesome!! It’s an enjoyable place to hang out at on a nice day. The Ladies room needs to be renovated and cleaned top to bottom!! In the smaller dining room it’s off to the side & single use. Everything in there was filthy. The walls, the floors, the toilet, the mirror, the door were all disgusting. I didn’t want to touch anything in there! I did not notice any other ladies room in the establishment. I/we won’t be back anytime soon. I live in the Lake George area and anytime I’m in the mood for BBQ, I’ll eat at The Barnsider Smokehouse where every meal I’ve had there in the past 5 years has been 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!!

Pros: service was relatively fast. seems to be open year-round I think, not seasonal(I went early March). Staff was friendly. Pulled pork was very juicy. Cons: was a bit pricey for the quality of the food. Ribs and brisket were tender but quite dry. Because they were tender that makes me think they were cooked properly but just sat out too long. Sides were very disappointing, felt very cheap and bland. Mac n cheese was almost flavorless. Corn bread was good though. Place was highly recommended to me. It was good, but definitely did not live up to the hype. I went all out and did the $30 three meat platter. Got pulled pork, brisket, and ribs. Pulled pork was juicy and was decent. I didn't prefer the sauce they used but there were more than one option so I'd just try a different type next time. Ribs and brisket were both very dry. Brisket was fork tender and smoke flavor was good but very dry and no other seasonings other than smoke seemingly. Corn bread was very cake like, kinda spongy. I enjoyed it but worth mentioning. Sides were biggest disappointment. I got Mac n cheese and Mac salad. Mac n cheese was borderline flavorless with no breadcrumbs and noodles were smooth so no texture whatsoever. Mac salad was passable but very bland. Overall not a bad experience but not worth $30 at all.

This place is legit. We live about 5 minutes down the road and we’re constantly driving past this place. We decided to stop in to grab some take out for dinner. All I can saw is, wow. From the moment you step in you’re salivating. The smell is delicious! The staff at the counter were helpful and pleasant as well. We ordered the big triple axle for the whole family for $66. You get so much food! Everything we had was beyond delicious. The ribs were fall apart tender, pulled pork was moist, the chicken cooked perfectly, corn bread out of this world, Mac and cheese was perfect. Everything was so flavorful. The best part though? A gentleman who works there walking around with a little basket filled with little stuffed animals for the kids. Little touches like that are so nice! Overall we will be back! Probably tomorrow, to try the burnt ends and some bread pudding. I can’t wait to try the ice cream in the summer! Give this place a try you will not leave disappointed or hungry.
