So disappointed with the service. I had made reservations months in advance when I was in Florida because eating at the Golden Eagle was on my bucket list for years. The reservation was for 4 of us, but at the last minute, one member could not make it. We arrived 15 minutes early and was told the gentlemen at our reserved table (balcony, corner table) was just finishing up. After 15, 20 minutes or so, the waitress (manager?) said we could be seated at another small table for two, with a chair added for the third person. Since our heart was set on the table we had asked for, we declined. The waitress (manager?) said since there were three of us, it was reserved for four people. However, there were only three men seated at that table when we got there. After they left, it took a while for the staff to clean the table, so we waited some more. After we were finally seated in a less than gracious fashion, we waited another 10 minutes for a waitress to come to our table. We weren't given any menus, so we carried our own out. When she came to our table, we asked for ice water with lemon and I ordered a glass of wine. Then we waited another 10 minutes or so and finally our water came, which she said was artesian water and would taste salty. No wine yet. It's not that the place was full, and there were several wait staff milling around. Eventually, one meal came... but only mine. Since it was hot, the other two said to go ahead and eat. I asked about my wine. She said she'd get it. I'd finished my meal when the other two ladies were finally served. On a positive note, the food was good. Still no wine. No water refills. No customer service. When she came to service the table next to ours, I told her to cancel my wine order. She said okay. We spent an hour, most of which time was waiting. Luckily, it was a gorgeous day and we enjoyed the weather and the view. One of the women in our party wanted to get up and leave after our initial wait period, but since I've always wanted to eat here, we stayed. After she brought our bill, she never came back to take our payment. We had to go inside to pay. Were they out straight busy? No. Were they cordial and courteous? No. Did it appear they singled us out to deliberately ignore us? Yes. This whole dining experience left a bad taste in our mouth and I hope no one ever is treated in the manner in...
Read moreI came to the Berkshires for the day to check out the entire area. We stopped here to check out the views and my husband went inside and mentioned there was a buffet. We love buffets so I went inside to check it out myself. Walked in and the whole first floor was completely empty so I went up the staircase to try to see where the people/food was. I get to the top of the staircase and a man in a white coat comes out of the kitchen (clearly a chef/owner). He says hi to me and I say hi back very cheerfully as I am always nice and cheerful to everyone. He asks me what I am doing there. I said I came inside to look and I started to walk in. I asked him about the lunch buffet (clearly interested) and he tells me yes the buffet is for lunch and dinner but stops me and says “you can’t be here. You’re a stranger”. Literally he called me a “stranger”. I looked at him completely dumbfounded because I thought he was joking. I said well we were thinking of eating here so I just wanted to take a look. He said “No, you weren’t, you just said you were looking, you can’t bother our customers”. (There was one table of customers in the entire restaurant). I said ok wow well now we REALLY aren’t going to be eating here and left. I went back to the car with tears in my eyes because I was just so shocked I was treated like that. I was in there for about 10 seconds before I was kicked out. My husband went inside and gave the guy an earful and left. The owner asked my husband why he didn’t go in there with me originally. Why would that matter? Because I look like a single, young girl in casual clothes so I’m not taken seriously? That’s pretty messed up. I’ve worked in food service for 10 years as a manager and I’ve never treated anyone like that completely unwarranted. Safe to say if we are ever back in the area we will definitely never eat here. I’ve never been treated so rudely for literally just walking into an establishment. Seeing how he rudely responded to all the other bad reviews I’m guessing he is going to respond back to me with some nasty to say...

Unfortunately a place where the negative Google reviews were right. Service was mean. Food was low-quality.
Long Version
When we walked in, the woman at the front informed us that they were serving only a lunch buffet and told us to look at the buffet menu. The menu was posted next to a sign that said "4% administrative charge on all transactions." (...Interesting...). The sign also listed prices for children under 8: $25 for dinner buffet, and $20 for lunch buffet (I think). Which is... interesting.
My mom and I cannot eat dairy, so after reading the menu, my mom asked the woman at the front if we could look at the food buffet. She told us that we could, just that we cannot open the lids covering the food itself (... which defeats the point...). When my mom asked what type of fried fish they served (we wanted to know battered fried or pan fried), the woman said it was battered fried but would not let us open the lid to see for ourselves. Only when my mom asked her to open the lid and that she did so could we see the food, and it looked like, as another Google reviewer mentioned, "high school cafeteria food" quality.
When we were walking back to the front where the menu was posted, the woman said, "So what's your decision?" with the attitude that we had no other choice but to eat there (which we did; Pittsfield has plenty of restaurants, and it's only half an hour drive away from this place). We talked and decided not to eat there since my mom and I had nothing we could eat. Then when my mom tried to use the restroom, the woman said "Restroom is for customers only. There's a bathroom downstairs you can use." (... It's a PORT-A-POTTY...OUTSIDE the building). Another woman, who seemed to work there, then BOLTED the bathroom door so we couldn't use it. It seemed like an unnecessary overkill of meaness towards us.
Conclusion
Please try someplace else if you don't want rude, mean service and...
