âââââ (5/5) âRefined comfort and small-town hospitality done rightâ
Hayes House is the kind of restaurant that surprises you â not because itâs flashy or loud, but because it nails every detail quietly and confidently. From the moment you walk in, thereâs a sense of calm and care in the space. The dĂ©cor strikes that perfect balance between historic charm and modern polish â warm lighting, thoughtful table settings, and a layout that invites conversation rather than noise.
The food was phenomenal. My entrĂ©e (a perfectly seared cut of salmon) came out fresh, plated beautifully, and seasoned like the chef actually understands restraint â balanced flavors, not overdone. The sides were equally thoughtful, and even the bread and butter had that homemade, âwe actually careâ touch thatâs becoming rare.
Service was dialed in from start to finish. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and timed everything perfectly â no awkward waits, no rush. You could tell theyâve been trained to take pride in what they do, and it shows.
Hayes House feels like the kind of place where you can take your family for a special occasion or unwind with a quiet date night and know youâll be taken care of. Itâs elegant without being pretentious, refined without losing its roots.
If youâre anywhere near Clarkston, make a reservation here. Itâs easily one of the best dining experiences in the valley â consistent, classy, and run by people who clearly take pride in...
Read moreSuper disappointed. First time customers and unfortunately the last time. Went to a birthday lunch for my husband and it took a full 20 mins to get our drinks. We were going to order lunch but after such a long wait and no communication in between we just ordered an appetizer to be polite since we had our drinks. The restaurant was not busy with only 2 other tables! It took another 15 minutes to get the fries with garlic butter toss which by then our drinks were already gone! The appetizer fries were unbelievably small with a way too salty garlic oil sauce. Fries were equivalent to costo frozen fast food fries. For a 45 minute wait we got 2 drinks and an appetizer. Bill cost $32 and some change!!!! I haven't had such a bad all around experience in a very long time. Will not recommend. Hope the owner notices and makes changes. This is off the beaten path and farr from other places, people are not going to travel out of there way to this establishment for outrageous prices and...
Read moreWe ordered the Crawdad's appetizer and they were in their shells and just sitting in butter.....for $18 it seemed like they could at least take the shells off or have a tea light candle for the melted butter. Next I got the Turkey Press and my husband got the fish tacos. My first bite of a French fry and they were cold.....but my sandwich was pretty hot and tasty. I asked for hot fries and got back my same fries just put back in the fryer again but this time they were sprinkled with parmesan which was different than the first batch? My husband's tacos were good he said but this being our first time here it seems like they could've done alot better!!! We ended our meal with my favorite dessert....Creme Brulee. This one was Maple bourbon creme brulee and i was excited! It was amazing except she really scorched the top so it had a burnt taste to it which was a bummer. Our bill was $80 which is alot of money to spend on food that was pretty...
