With a lot of good brunch options in and near my hometown of Fenton, it’s hard to venture out. I’ve been wanting to try out The Pig and The Hen for a while now, and was glad I finally did. We decided to try a few different menu items as everything looked good, but the item that blew us away the most was the Banana Foster Pancakes. When they first brought them out, I was very underwhelmed. That was until they dumped the bowl of all the toppings on top, which made my jaw hit the table. They were so damn good. My other favorite thing we got was the side of seasoned house potatoes. They might be the best ‘hash browns’ I have had. The other items we got were the chicken and Waffles, which were good but can’t comment on as it was my first time ever having them, so I don’t have any others to compare to. Also got the Mushroom Lovers Omelette which was good and tasted very fresh. We each got an expresso martini, which left a little to be desired… maybe it was just crushed ice floating around in it that I wasn’t used to. I still enjoyed it. I Should also mention that even with a full house, the service was great.

Solid revamp of Valley's! First off, they are NOT doing takeout through the drive-thru window. Here is my rundown after ordering coffee, salmon benedict, and a side of turkey sausage: Cons: Coffee is pretty mid. Similar to Dom's. No vanilla creamer or splenda. They do have sugar and sweet-n-low, if that matters to ya. Pros: The salmon Benedict came on what appeared to be a slice of baguette, which i was initially bummed about, but ended up being well toasted and may have even made the benedict larger, overall. Generous with the portion of smoked salmon. Hollandaise was on point and well made. There was a garlicy and creamy spread on the bread, which I've never had on any benedict, but was tasty. The arugula was a great addition as an accompaniment, but it was unseasoned and maybe tossed with a tiny but of olive oil and lemon juice. I added S&P and it was good, though I can see it being too plain for some ppl. Turkey sausage was good, not great, but did satisfy. Overall, it is a nice addition to the area and an improvement over Valley's.

I went once to the place this was before. I think I liked the old place better. The food now is really good, I'll admit. But they've definitely lost something in the experience. The staff I interacted with were less-than warm, which is a shocking contrast from the last time I was there (at the old place). It might have just been busy, I don't know. It also took a strong 30 minutes for my order of over-easy eggs, potatoes, and toast ($10 for that if you're curious). I also wanted the açai bowl, but was told rather curtly "we don't have that". After pressing for more info I heard that they haven't gotten that in. Strange since they've been open 2 months, but that's our world I guess. I don't think this new place is for me. If brunch is your scene, they've gone 100% into that vibe now, with "Live Laugh Love" decor and the fake-grass wall with a neon girly-pop sign for selfies. I just want good food and a friendly atmosphere when I decide to forego cooking. The food is good, atmosphere, maybe not so much.

I went to this restaurant because my friend shared with me the idea that this was supposed to be upscale. I convinced the family to go in after church. I say this because I know for a fact I was here no later than 12:20. My family came in when it seemed busy. We were asked to wait for a table which was no big deal. We sat in the seats for the waiting area, and they gave us a buzzer (they didn't want to acknowledge collecting). They sat us at a table that was available for the wait time (it is what it is). We had a small toddler in our group. A high chair was not offered. They tried to be fancy with bringing water to everyone. However, refills were not given lucky. My toddler didn't drink water. I asked for a drink menu, and she never asked if I wanted a drink, so I guess that was out of the question. We ordered our food, and it took an hour to get with no exaggerating. People came and left with no apologies for our wait. Even after we asked about our wait time. Our food came out, and 1 out of 4 food trays came with fruit on it. We were asked by the different server girl oh only one person wanted fruit we said we weren't asked so then we brought 2 more fruit cups. So, 3 out of 4 people ended up with fruit cups. All of us had potato wedges when I asked for ketchup it she said, "How many cups? I said we'll. I guess if it's cups a few." She brought 2 small ketchups that may have had a teaspoon each in them. Again, 4 orders of fries. Then 3 out of 4 people had toast when asked about getting jelly, and we got 1 teaspoon of jelly. Which a different waitress brought us each item. If there were the slightest chance of us ever returning. We now know to bring our own ketchup and jelly. Seems they are that cheap. Then I watched those who got drinks get small drinks meanwhile, and most are 10 plus, so be aware. My church friend paid the tab, so it was lucky the waitress who did absolutely nothing but bring us our first water accostumed of the business. Because after we paid our tab, she was quick to run to the cashier to get the tip. Yes, I put all the details on the same day because I want everyone to know how slow they are and how terrible my waitress who never stated her name was.

My breakfast was a s'more crepe it was very pretty, but the menu was misleading. I thought it said something about 2 on it.

The omlettes were supposed to be 3 egg omlettes but seemed small.

The eggs, in general, were small.

The intentions seemed better, but as a first-time customer which we told the waitress. I've seen more advertisements on Facebook. They didn't offer any seasonal food specials, I suppose those are over who knows. Guess at least the post my friend shared with me about pumpkin spice stuff was just too good to be true.

My take for the owners on this is to make sure you have waitresses willing to promote the business you would...

If you’re looking for a place like Brothers or The Laundry, just go there. This establishment is NOT that.

This place is COLD. Had a thick Columbia parka coat on the entire time and still had goosebumps, cold legs and toes. It’s so cold in there that our food was freezing when it reached our table.

I attempted to order the monte cristo… the server advised me against my food choice and told me I wouldn’t like it because it’s super greasy, practically forced me to order another item on the spot.

Had to ask twice for syrup for pancakes and for French toast. Apparently French toast and pancakes do not automatically come with syrup here. After asking for syrup, our server left the table and started bussing another large empty table for 5 minutes while our food got cold while waiting for her to finish cleaning before getting our syrup.

The banana pancakes came out completely disassembled. A plate of pancakes. A bowl of bananas. A bowl of ice cream. We had to place the ice cream and bananas on our pancakes ourselves. The pancakes were not banana bread pancakes as advertised, just plain old regular pancakes. The ice cream was not vanilla bean, plain vanilla, rock hard and freezer burnt. The eggs were cold by time they got to our table. I use hot sauce on my eggs but never got the chance to ask for it due to our server running away and not checking on us our entire meal.

Server walked away multiple times while we were speaking to her, on top of not introducing herself, just coming up to our table saying “you know what you want?”.

Went to the bathroom. No toilet paper. Told the owner. Her response was “really? I just put some in there?” No, not really. I’m lying about not being about to wipe the pee off of myself. Watched the owner ball up toilet paper in her hand from the employee closet and handed a wad of toilet paper to the next person waiting in line instead of her going into the bathroom to replace the roll… not sure about you but I don’t want a wad of toilet paper from someone else’s hand that is about to touch my crotch. Just replace the roll?

Asked for the check. Received the check. Put cards out on the table. Waited for the waitress to get the bills. She came to the table and said “oh you guys aren’t going to take them up there to pay?” Mind you, we have never been here before, very first time, had NO idea we had to take the bills up to the register to pay. I literally had to apologize and say I was sorry and didn’t know because it was my first time there.

Horrible food. Horrible experience. Horrible service. Horrible atmosphere.

Just a horrible experience all together. We will...

It's truly a shame this establishment is so poorly managed, it had a lot of potential. We've been eating here for over a year and it just keeps going down hill. We have only come here for breakfast on the weekends. We always arrive around 9am. Saturday February 22nd we were seated in the secondary room and there were only 2 tables of customers in there and we were seated at a dirty table, it had very dried crusty food the kind that sat overnight. In the main portion of the restaurant there was 2 large groups seated. We were greeted quickly and our Server took our drink order. She was away for a while before serving our drinks. After she left we commented how filthy dirty the floor was, really dirty! The floors are dark and it did look like someone had attempted to mop because it was all dirty white swirls through out. Our Server finally dropped off our drinks and took our order, come to find out they discontinued my favorite breakfast that I always order, the "Smoked Salmon omelet". I used the restroom, there was no toilet tissue and everything was dirty, I had to use crispy paper towel to wipe! In the meantime the part of the restaurant we were seated in was filling up. We waited and waited and we didn't even see our Server again, she never checked on us for drink refills. After 43 minutes my husband put the $3 on the table for his coffee and we got up to walk out! As we started walking away, there's our Server with our food! We ate our breakfast which was lukewarm and she eventually dropped off our check and stated...."we ran out food and they had to make more" WHAT?? Did you hatch the eggs, cut the potatoes, dice up the meat? How does the bathroom have no toilet tissue, the restaurant be so dirty and you say you ran out of food in the restaurants first hour of being open??? Theeen, walking out of the restaurant there is a sign put on the door when you walk in stating "due to egg shortages we are charging $2 per any egg dish ordered" wtf! For white eggs? Shortage or no shortage, you either have the eggs or don't but why charge each customer an additional $2!!! When it is $30+ for 2 breakfasts and 1 cup of coffee and water for 2 people and this establishment has no courtesy to make sure you have cleaned your restaurant, replenish your food supplies and restrooms are stocked and cleaned? THERE IN NO VALUE FOR US TO RETURN! I will spend my money at establishments that care more about their paying customers!

And this is not the first time we've eaten their and been told they are out of food within the first hour...
