Willie's Tavern — Restaurant in Clayton

We discovered this place through a Facebook post about a show there. We didn't know what to expect because the only pictures we could easily find looked like a dive bar. But this place... this place is amazing!!! We spent all of our time outside in the courtyard listening to music. We ordered food and every bit of it was delicious! I do want to note that every single person there was so friendly and up for a chat (even the dogs, that we LOVED!), except one waitress (not ours). After we had already been waited on and were waiting for our food, she came by and started questioning us. We were sitting at a table that was not reserved (no sign on it like the others), but was outside of a room. It was literally the only non reserved table left. She was very, very rude and when she was walking away she said "well, just letting you know you're not getting served [sitting] here!" And I told her we already were. I guess she thought I was giving her lip because she said "maaaaam???!" With wide eyes and an attitude. I repeated myself and she completely changed her bad attitude and walked away. We desperately hope we don't get her next time because everyone else was out for a good time and she seemed sour; like the only person that wanted a problem. But, our server was amazing!! Even gave her a $20 tip! Can't wait...

Willie's Tavern is a rustic large lodge with a full-service restaurant and bar a nice surprise for us. We stayed in a lodge room at the Chattooga River Lodge & Campground. We were able to mee the owners of the campground which are such nice people and hands on running the business. We were able to meet the couple they hired to manage the restaurant/bar and staff. They're all so friendly and genuinely want their customers to enjoy their visit. The food was amazing and the menu choices and presentation much more than we expected. The bar was fully stocked with much more choices than we'd expected as well. The food was so good we ate lunch and dinner both Friday and Saturday and couldn't wait on Sunday to have their brunch before we left. There was entertainment outside on Friday night and inside on Saturday night. You can tell everyone is like one big family and they make you feel the same. I usually don't leave a review BUT, The family and I are up here on vacation, We had been out seeing the beautiful waterfalls and the other attractions in the area, We stopped in Willie's Tavern for something to eat, (my adult daughter wanted to eat there) My wife and I was going to Simple Pie, Our guide on the rafting trip said that they had the best pizza around. But we ended up at Willie's the food was average ,but let me tell you about the wings that I ordered, I have seen larger legs on Mockingbirds, I'm not talking about just small, the celery sticks were larger than the wings, my wife's burger was good,but the size of those wings, small is an over statement.
