Its not quite like any mexican restaurant i have ever been to before. Which isn't saying the food is bad. Me and my family actually really like the food, its just different. I usually get the fajita quasidilla and its delicious, i just have never had to eat a quasidilla with a knife and fork before. I have also never had to ask for a side of beans at a Mexican restuarant as well. Every dish i have had at a mexican restaurant before comes with rice and beans and i have never seen a "guacamole" salad and especially not as a side dish. That is a garnish not a side. My mother order a quesadilla the other night and it looked like something my 9 year old nephew makes for a snack. She actually has to order a second one. That all said the food is actually really good here just different. It a nice environment and the service is always good. The servers are friendly and nice. We actually go there about once a week. So i recommend this place. Oh yeah awesome blended margaritas. Suggestions: if you happen to want to sit in the bar and there is a female bartender, you should probably sit in the restaurant unless you like bad service and to be treated rudely. Then go ahead and sit in the bar. If how ever you would like good service and to be treated respectfully you will all ways get that in the restaurant area. I dont think i have had worse service or been treated so badly in any restaurant as i have with the female bartender here.
It almost makes me never...
Read moreCompared to the resteraunt that used to be the tennants, this is a great improvement. The hostess, whom I assume is the owner, has a a genial personality, and is very welcoming. However, her antics border on unprofessionalism. Service was outstanding at the beginning of the meal, but it took a while to get our check. The resteraunt was extremely clean and well kempt. As for the chips and slasa, I thought they were both excellent. The salsa was just spicy enough to remain titilating throughout the meal, but not hot enough to be unpleasant. I had the seafood fajitas, and while they were good, it lacked a little luster. The overall entre lacked spice that might appeal to a western pallate, but made up for it in authenticity. The scallops and squid were a tad over cooked, but overall it was an enjoyable meal. If you like authentic Mexican food I would definately reccomend El Maguey. If however you prefer a spicier tex-mex style of food I would be more inclined to reccomend another establishment. El Maguey is well worth at least a chance, especially at their more than...
Read moreThis place WAS good a few months ago. This time our waiter couldn't be bothered with us. Took our drink order and just walked away didn't confirm or say anything just gone. Asked if we were ready to order...10 minutes later when he brought our 2 sweet tea's. there complimentary salsa tasted like watered down tomatoes. Not in a good way. My giant burrito was suppose to have steak and chicken it had a total of 10 small pieces of meat. I ripped it open and there was no meat inside. I returned it immediately. The manager offered to bring out more meat. So they try to give you as little as possible.
This place is not worth your time. Unless you like getting alot less then your monies worth. If that's the case you...
