Three for average. There was nothing wrong or bad.
I wanted BBQ today because I saw a video of someone else slicing brisket, and we're new to Cleveland, so we picked Jordan's as our first place to try.
The service was good. Prices good. Overall the food was average, though the beef was disappointing. I think this is the highest rated local BBQ in Cleveland, so take my review as one of many.
I will echo many other comments - the beef was bland. Two of us at the table remarked it tasted more like roast than brisket. There was no fatty bits, so if you like your meat lean, it might be for you. It really needs more smoke and seasoning, though.
The good: Sweet Tea Baked Beans (I wish they added some fat or crispy bits from the bbq meats, but otherwise very good.) Hot Slaw (A local thing so I do not know what it's 'supposed' to taste like but this would be delicious on the sandwich, a hot dog or a sausage. It was a bit much as a side, but locals may disagree.) Fried Okra Ribs Blackberry cobbler Smoked Italian sausage (This is different from the usual sausage at BBQ places.) The decor. You can tell the place grew into what it is.
We had mixed reviews on the potato salad and the banana pudding.
The not-so-good: The beef coconut pie the sauce
I regret not trying the pork, but I didn't like the sauce so I'm not sure it would have saved a star. The sauce started out sweet and tangy but left me...
Read moreFirst I would like to say I am not an expert but I have been to a few of the Nation’s best BBQ joints. Franklin’s in Austin Tx, The Smokin Pig in Anderson Sc most notably, plus probably 40-50 others around the US and a few in Canada. THE BEST Cole Slaw I have ever had, like ever. It was sweet, tangy, crunchy, with considerable pop. From the first bite I was sold and began thinking about how to write about it. The baked beans were average for a BBQ place but solid. Slight sweet taste but more on the savory side (which I prefer.) The ribs were sweet with a nice sauce glaze and fall off the bone tender, plus a hint of spice which I like. I prefer mine with more of a savory, zingy, and a hint of sweet but these were solid. The beef was a pulled style with a bold hickory flavor that lets the meat show through. That said they could use some of seasoning that is in the BBQ sauce to be sprinkled on them before they put the meat in the smoker. I am a salt, savory preference person so this left it to be desired. The BBQ sauce itself is pretty solid. A ketchup based sauce with a little spice, sweet and savory at the same time. The banana pudding is just AMAZING that’s all I have to say about that. The service was great and the atmosphere...
Read moreTL;DR - this place was awesome - service was great, atmosphere was great, food was great and the price was crazy cheap for BBQ - definitely try it for that Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg BBQ feel in Cleveland.
Review: First, I loved the subtle repping of their belief system - that's what's great about America is freedom of religion.
Second, waitress was super nice and helpful!
Third - food was really good. I'm not a fan of that kind of potato salad but it was still good. Pinto Beans and cornbread were so flavorful!! Pulled Pork BBQ was good but the ribs were amazing - fall off the bone and very flavorful. The BBQ sauce was good as well. Also had fried green beans and chili - both were really good. This place is definitely worth going for - the sausage plate, not pictured here was amazing as well.
Fourth - you would expect that meal to be upwards from $50 - we only paid $35 for all of that food. Do yourself a favor and eat here - it's...
