We had an absolutely miserable experience at dinner with friends recently. Our constructive criticism to the wonderful (no, really they were wonderful) wait staff resulted in being told to leave a review because the kitchen staff doesn't care about feedback. One asked for nachos and was told they were out of taco meat. She ended up with cold chicken chunks. Her husband ordered the breaded perch dinner and was tokd they were out of perch. He ordered the Roadhouse Burger and had an overcooked burger with old, dry pulled pork and "housemade chips" that were old and cold. We were told those chips are made as part of the days' prep when they open, not made to order. My husband had a brisket wrap that was severely lacking the brisket. And lastly, I had the Roadhouse Chicken sandwich - I asked if it was processed chicken or whole breast and after the waitress checked with the kitchen, I was told it was NOT processed...but it was. Obviously a processed, precooked frozen breast patty. The bacon was old and cold and the pulled pork was terribly dry and not fresh. The mac & cheese side was cold and congealed. I even had a 'skunky' beer - a Mich Ultra that was $3.50. (Kroger is $21 for a case) On a positive note, the service was fantastic and the onion rings and fries were great. Despite not eating the bad food and expressing the exact concerns to our waitress, both couples still received a full price bill at the end of it all. We will not be returning.
UPDATE 02/13/21: Although we we offered gift cards, we did not respond. We gave it 6 months and decided to try again. We have a "Member to Member Benefit Card" from the Tiffin Chamber of Commerce. This card offered a "Buy one crispy chicken wrap, get one free" from Carmie's. We ordered 6 of them to-go and told the server we had a "BUY ONE GET ONE FREE" offer. Given our last experience, we asked for fresh made chips. We were told that wasn't possible because the chips were made in the morning for day. When our bill came, we were told that the BOGO deal was only "one per customer per day". We advised that there were no restrictions listed. We were told to look at the Chamber's website. We pulled up the website, showed them and again, we advised that there were no restrictions listed. Someone brought out a copy of a posting from the kitchen stating "one per customer per day". We were told that "the best we can do is take 20% off". So, when ordering, we expected to pay for 3 wraps, but were charged for 5. We received old, burnt chips; not fresh made. When we got our food home, we found the crispy chicken to be cold. We can literally see the restaurant from our house. Not sure why it was old and cold. We have had better meals that were hot and fresh from chain fast food restaurants. I hate to keep giving bad reviews- we used to eat there once a week or so. We have not had a positive experience in at least...

That's not necessarily a bad thing as it makes it easier to choose your food. Yet, I miss the ones I liked. Despite that, we had an enjoyable meal. Starting with beer and the 3 dip appetizer, which includes buffalo chicken, spinach artichoke, and sausage with corn tortilla chips. They were all good. The spinach artichoke dip was more garlicky than last time. The Buffalo chicken was just right with flavor and heat. The sausage dip was thick and a bit difficult to get on a chip. The flavor was good, but it felt like it needed something... maybe smoking the sausage a bit first and possibly adding minced green bell pepper or sliced scallions? I think that would be amazing! I had a salad with no cheese with ranch dressing and the bacon chicken ranch flatbread. My husband had his usual favorite 4 piece roasted chicken order with brisket green beans with an extra side added of tater tots. They had sweet bbq sauce at the table, and it was good on the chicken & drizzled on the flatbread. The two dessert choices were not enough to tempt us. We'd had the churros a few years back pre-pandemic but were not fond of them. Maybe we'll give it another try next time. Everything we ordered was well prepared on this visit with yummy flavors. The server was attentive and very nice. This visit guaranteed another in the near future.
Previous review: It's a bit pricey like buffalo wild wings. My daughter & I had good service today from a nice young lady. She was prompt & and attentive, which I'm happy to finally experience at Carmies. The food was yummy as usual. I had decaf coffee, a starter of fried pickles w/horseradish based sauce, margarita flatbread, and a cup of French onion soup. Fried pickles were abundant & flavorful without being too salty. The sauce was a nice contrast. The flatbread could have benefited from the classic margarita topping - fresh basil - as it was on the blander side without it. All the toppings were fresh & good. Would have been over the top yummy with a balsamic reduction drizzle like I've had at other places! The soup was as yummy if a little heavy on the butter this time. But always my favorite there! I'd visit more than a few times a year if the prices were a bit lower. We always enjoy our...
Β Β Β Read moreWell, it says BBQ in the name, but there are only a few bbq options on the menu. Most of the menu consists of burgers, chicken, wraps, flatbreads, and a few other non-related items.
Carmie's is in the same building as the Camden Falls Conference Center. So you have a beautiful building then suddenly there is a screen door which looks completely out of place. There is a bar as soon as you walk in. Turn right to enter the restaurant seating area.
My daughter and I were leaning towards getting bbq and were surprised that there were so few options. She ended getting a mushroom burger with the chips and a tossed salad. I got the chicken caesar salad wrap with chips and baked beans.
The burger was fine although the mushrooms were not fresh. She ended up taking them off her burger. Her salad consisted of a mound of iceberg lettuce, 4 cherry tomatoes, and some croutons on top. I didn't care for my chicken wrap. The beans weren't bad. There was a ton of pork in it. The chips were really good. We considered getting dessert, but since we were not impressed with the food, we decided just to head back to our hotel which had cookies.
I will say that our server was wonderful, but the food was not.
We visited this restaurant because a) it was close, b) we thought it was a bbq place, c) the good reviews. Maybe we visited on an off night, but we were more dissatisfied...
