After traveling for multiple hours, me and my mom stopped to get a bite to eat. When we walked in the lady standing there said are y’all here to check us out. We responded and said yes we went to the back of the restaurant where they already had food prepared, I didn’t really see anything I wanted. My mom said she needed to use the restroom, when we came out of the restroom, The cook that was standing by the food told us we could look at the menu if we didn’t see anything liked. the lady that first spoke to us said what y’all just wanted to use the restroom… I responded and said no I didn’t see anything appetizing over there, we wanted to look at the menu. She said that was very bold of you, seem to be offended. Then proceeded to tell us that we needed to leave and never come back. I never got a chance to taste the food, but I hope it is much better than their hospitality and customer service skills. Even though this was our first time to eat here, we were greeted by the owner, Miss Carter, with a smile and a HUG! Man, you just don't see that every day. She treated us like she had known us for years. The lunch we had today was fried fish, butterbeans with okra, candied yams, mustard greens, and corn bread. And let me tell you, It was OUTSTANDING! When we checked out, Miss Carter told me how much she appreciated our business and I promised her we would be back to try other dishes. We drove in from out of town just to try Carter’s Home Cooking — and it was so worth it! Mrs. Carter is an absolute gem. She made us feel right at home the moment we walked in, like we were family. You can tell she pours her heart and soul into every dish.

We had the pork chop, and it was hands down one of the best we’ve ever tasted — juicy, flavorful, perfectly cooked. You can taste the love and tradition in every bite. The whole experience, from the warm welcome to the incredible food, made the drive more than worth it.
