Update: I decided to give Gerrie’s a second chance — and I’m really glad I did. This visit was completely different. We were seated right away in the cozy bar area, and the atmosphere was relaxing. Our waitress was kind and attentive, and the food was absolutely delicious. I had the fish and chips — the breading was perfect, and even the coleslaw was great. This experience totally changed my opinion, and I’ll definitely be back. - Original review: We drove 45 minutes to try Gerrie’s in Clinton, Indiana for dinner, but left extremely disappointed. When we arrived, there was a party of four ahead of us waiting to be seated. After standing in line for about 10 minutes with no acknowledgment from the staff, that party got frustrated and walked out. We decided to wait a little longer, but after an additional 5 minutes with still no greeting, explanation, or even a simple “we’ll be right with you” from any of the four waitresses walking around, we also left. Not one person communicated with us the entire time. To make matters worse, we witnessed a seated elderly couple being asked to move upstairs because a reservation needed more space — after they had already been sitting for 15 minutes. It just felt disorganized and inconsiderate. Unfortunately, this was not a good experience at all. A little communication would have gone a long way.

A quaint little place with decent service that suffers like many other restaurants from the effects of the Midwesterner palate. So many places around this area have these high ratings, so I go in with high expectations to be greeted with very bland food. I read several reviews about how "amazing" or "the best" the Italian beef was only to find it lacking flavor or anything to set it apart from other dishes. The sauce was bland, and the bread flavorless. This is Italian food. There should be an explosion of flavor when you take a bite, but yet there is none. Overall, the price was okay for the amount of food you get, but here in the Midwest overall, that seems to be the only thing that matters to people. As long as you have tons of food flavor is irrelevant, so to that extent, I can't blame this restaurant for falling into the classic trope that Midwestern eating establishments fall into. If you moved this place down south or on the coast, it would shut down due to the lack of customers.

Gerrie’s is the place to go for Italian food, period. Coming from Terre Haute, it was worth the drive! The food was amazing to say the least, the staff was super kind, and the building was beautiful. I also learned that about 10 years ago the building went through a total renovation to become Gerrie’s and bring some life back to an old building. However, walking in feels like it’s been there forever and everyone I talked to in the community agrees. It’s a staple in the daily lives of many families in the area. There is also a neat little bar area, and private rooms for small gatherings. If you haven’t been here yet, you need to.

This is the 3rd time I've called to order carry out an hour in advance so it would be ready when I got there at the time I asked it to be ready and I still had to stand and wait for 15 minutes or more each time I went. Everyone raved about how good their tenderloins were and my husband and I judge establishments based off this item alone because I make them homemade myself and we have eaten MANY at many places. The tenderloins I waited an hour and 10 mins for were pounded too thin, way over cooked and so dry we could barely chew them. Add this to the in-house bread we could barely chew at a previous visit, the bland marinara sauce, and overly salty Italian beef, overall I'm sorry to say we're disappointed with this restaurant. I don't usually leave reviews either until I have been to a restaurant at least a couple times sit down, and carried out several times, if both are offered like this one was. Their pizza was...
