Food type: buffet Food: 3/10 Service: 7/10 Atmosphere: 3/10
We spent the weekend at Fairfield Bay and wanted to eat out the night before we left to make things easier, so we saw Western Sizzlin about 20 minutes away and decided we would eat here. Let me preface this by saying my wife and I used to eat Wood Grill Buffet near her family in Arkansas and enjoyed it very much. Since Wood Grill and Western Sizzlin are under the same company umbrella, we figured it would be good. WRONG!
The buffet consisted of two SMALL food buffet tables, one consisted of a few meats (chicken, fish, roast beef, and something else?) and the other had a mix of about 6-8 vegetables. There was also a salad bar and a dessert station. First off, the meats were scarce and they didn't refill them frequently so we were left waiting to try and get more. The vegetables tasted old and straight from the can/package. The salad bar was about the only decent thing there and even it wasn't great. Desserts were dry and tasteless.
The waitress we had was nice. She seemed overwhelmed as she seemed to be the only one working. Even though she was stretched thin, she did ensure we had refills and checked on us as much as she could. I give props to her.
In terms of the atmosphere, there really isn't one. The tables and chairs appear old/damaged and in desperate need of replacing. The whole place just feels like a ton of tables and chairs and two little-bitty buffet bars; just seems like too much space for such little food offered.
Lastly, the price is absolutely absurd. I spent $85 for my family of four to eat and it wasn't worth even half that. We barely got any meats and what we did get tasted old, dry, and without flavor. Sad to say we ended up paying, leaving, and ate somewhere else later that night. A waste of $85 that's for sure.
This place needs to either have a major overhaul, change their prices,...

When we walked in every table that wasn't occupied, was dirty and stacked with dishes, we had to go to the very back of the restaurant to locate a table that didn't have dirty dishes sitting on it. Note, it wasn't a "clean" table, had greasy spots on it but at least no dishes.
Service was awful, no communication, we had no idea who or how long before we get our drinks. I had chopped steak, it literally crumbled to pieces..my husband had a new york strip, it was fatty and grissely - granted for Western Sizzlin we weren't expecting a gourmet meal but come on...the salad bar was limited and a lot of items were empty.
We never got bread, never saw bread of any kind on the buffet, were never offered bread. The best thing I can say is the baked potatoes were okay...The price of the meal was way overpriced!!!!!!!!
Upon leaving we rounded the corner to see a Sonic, we both would have...
Read moreWorst sizzler I have ever been to. 4 of us Went for crab leg night. Upon entering the establishment we approached the cashier while a very rude gentleman pushed past her and grabbed some plates. She turned to us and apologized for him and said sorry thats the owner he's just rude. We continued to order the crab legs and paid before being seated. We comensed to make salads. Once seated, the waitress tells us sorry they were now out of crab legs. I was very disappointed. But said we would accept some steaks instead. Then she tried to charge me an extra 6$ each to change to steak after we had already paid for the crab legs. I didn't feel this was acceptable. And said I will not pay any more and that I would like to speak to the manager or owner. Neither came to the table. Instead they brought us some tiny pieces of meat aprox 3-4 oz that was way over cooked. I will not return to this...
