My wife and I are from Oklahoma and traveling full time. We have been in the area for a month now and we tried this restaurant for the first time tonight. Other restaurants in the town, Josie's and Brothers Pizza were excellent. We arrived for dinner today at just after 5pm. When we entered we looked for a "wait to be seated" sign but didn't see any. It was almost full and eventually a waitress from behind the bar yells for us to just sit anywhere we like. We walk to the only open seats, other than a table for 12. The booth was about 40 feet away towards the middle back of the place. Just as we are about to sit down at the clean table, this elderly waitress literally sprinted over to the table and threw down a "reserved seating" sign and said we could not sit there. Later we found out her name was Dessie. We just stood there dumbfounded. We felt everyone was watching us. We could not believe what she did. She did not offer us any solutions or apologies. We looked to see there was several seats available at the bar which we reluctantly took. It was not at all conducive for eating. Maybe for drinks but certainly not for enjoying a meal. Our waitress Brooklyn was very sweet and took good care of us. I ordered the fried haddock meal which was way over done. The sides, baked potato, salad and broccoli salad was good. My wife ordered the BLT sandwich with sweet potato fries but never even had a bite because she was too upset about being treated so rudely by the other waitress, Dessie! I finished my meal and asked to speak to the manager on duty. Her name was Shirley. I wanted to bring the incident to her attention because it completely ruined our meal. I explained exactly what happened and even pointed out to her that the table being reserved for "royalty" was still UNOCCUPIED 30 minutes later! I told her we were humiliated in front of the entire intimate setting of about 20 to 30 people. I also told her we was NOT looking for a free meal and only wanted to bring this very unprofessional act by Dessie to her attention. As a pharmacy manager for 36 years I completely understand employees don't always act appropriately. I would have expected Shirley, the manager on duty to not try to justify Dessie's rudeness. She tried to explain that everyone knows that table is ALWAYS RESERVED for "special customers" Like how in the world would we know that being our first time trying this place? She did eventually try to smooth it over by saying she was sorry but did not offer us any compensation what so ever. Would have been nice to have been offered a free desert a few dollars off the ticket, considering my wife did not even touch her food. To make matters worse Dessie continued to be rude by giving us the "death stare" At no time did Dessie even come close to smile or speak a word to us as she walked by us countless time behind the bar seating. This was a pathetic way to treat customers. Guess we should have known that the "special table" was completely off limits to "out of towners" As owner of this place I would be ashamed for my employees, Dessie and Shirley to have been so inconsiderate...
Read moreWalked in to this what seemed charming restaurant. We stood by the door a couple of minutes. One sweet waiteess named Brooklyn yells out....."sit anywhere"! So we make our way to an empty table, table. A table that was empty when we walked in. This old waitress named "Dessie"....as we arrive at the table... sets up a place setting & says "its reserved". Didnt say sorry or nothing. That waitress waited until we were at the table and we were about to sit to tell us...we can't sit there! (I get regulars...but clean a table & then set out reserved sign. I waitessed too! ) My husband and I were flabbergasted...who does that? It's been 25 minutes and that "reserved" table is still empty. Meanwhile...at this bar my knees rubbing into it.... it's uncomfortable. Totally spoiled my appetite!! BTW the ONLY reason I didn't leave was the sweet waitress Brooklyn. She gave good service but I took the food home. My husband talked to Manager who said table is always reserved. Really? Then why would a waitress yell "sit anywhere"? The waitresses don't know a permanent reserved table? As my husband is talking to the manager..."Dessie" is glaring at me! Hateful woman! I won't be going back! Still we left...
