JOSIE'S FAMILY RESTAURANT — Restaurant in Coalport

Josie’s is a home town, family restaurant in Coalport, PA! Home of delicious wings, lobster wraps, salads, pasta, dinners, and a huge breakfast challenge! I can’t recommend this place high enough. We usually come in two-three times a week, and are always greeted with excellent service, a big smile, and we feel like family....not customers.

There are so many items on her menu that we love, but some of our go to favorites are:

Sweet and Sassy Wings (both wet and dry) Lobster wraps Turkey dinner Breakfast (I recommend eggs any way you can think of them, omelettes, bananas foster French toast, S’mores French toast, and you can’t forget her fresh sausage patties!) Cobb Salad Meatloaf dinner Loaded French fries (cheese, bacon, chives, sour cream) Fresh soups (can’t go wrong with any of them) Country fried steak dinner

As you can see we can go on and on. Now not only is the food delicious, but the service is quick, the coffee is fresh, and your order is cooked fresh regardless of how busy they become. You can’t beat the quality!!

Last, and certainly not least, is owner JoAnn who not only will check on you, but follow up on any compliment or complaint, will sit and have a conversation with you, and take any suggestion openly and graciously. Arrived on a Sunday morning about 10 am. We were seated immediately, our orders were taken promptly and we received drinks. Over an hour later we had not received our food. When I questioned the waitress she said she would check on it. She did not. When I caught her again and asked if it would be more than 5 minutes she said it definitely would as there were several tables ahead of us. I told her we were leaving and they charged us for our drinks. I when I commented that they should let people know when they are seated that there will be a long wait for food (we had our 2 year old grandson with us and he was hungry!) she said she that was to be expected at a full restaurant. We lucked into Josie’s on Main Street in Coalport when driving through and the place we had planned to eat in Houtzdale was closed for this specific weekend. There’s a handicapped parking space in front, a ramp, and the friendliest, helpful staff. The decor is bear-themed, wood and metal, so appropriate to the area. Food was good, promptly ready, ample portions. I’m vegetarian and never quite sure what I’ll find in rural PA but had a delicious, satisfying meal, and my partner gave high marks to the country-fried steak and gravy.
