If you are vegetarian or vegan, I'm so sorry, but there's not much for you here...Jake's is a shrine to delicious smoked meats. Delicious smoky pit beef and ribs($25 slab/$13 half), smoked Italian sausage links (2 for $6)and more. Sandwiches are served on full sized kaiser rolls, which arrive stuffed with meat. Good mac and cheese or cole slaw on the side...only $2 for a half pint portion of either. Good selection of sodas and a few Arizona teas. The environ is spartan, but the employees are always upbeat and friendly. The best pit beef, bbq spots are usually like this, and Jake's passes the decor savings on to the consumer. This place is a little off the beaten path, but on a Sunday around noon, the tiny lot was filling up, almost creating traffic, and for good reason. The beef isn't as thinly sliced as Chaps, but it's a different kind of smoky good than Chaps with a really nice note to the smokiness of all their meats. Sandwiches offered in pit beef($8), smoked chicken breast, turkey and pork (all $7). Cheese is optional on any sandwich: American, provolone, Swiss, or pepper jack. The pit beef sandwich portions are massive. You could get a second bun and make two meals of one of these. What's crazy is that this to die for sandwich is $8, less than most foot longs at Subway. No complaints about the great prices though. Their house bbq sauce is a really nice sauce. They also offer the typical DIY tiger sauce, horseradish, onions. Additionally offered: DIY fresh sliced tomatoes, romaine slices and sliced sweet pickles. I had all the above on my sandwich...yum. We finished eating about 1 and it's almost 7:00 now. Even after a 2 hour post Jake's hike at nearby Oregon Ridge Park, I'm still full. Finish your sandwich here and you've eaten for the day.

Man 'O Man, what can I really say that would truly give justice to this food. First if you drive too fast you will speed past this hidden gem. From the time you pull up you see the multiple grills out front working and the grill master welcoming you Sweetest sight ever and the smells are like you have died and gone to backyard grill heaven. When you pull up you may be apprehensive if you are used to designer BBQ spots. The look, feel and ambience are all down home backyard grilling. The menu is small but that usually means they master those selections. They definitely do. I tried the beef as a sample and deezam it was moist, tender, juicy, and flavorful. I got the half rack of ribs and coleslaw. The look alone I knew I was in for a treat. With the first bite I knew I must have done good in a past life. Whew, the flavor, tenderness, and just the right amount of bite. I love grilling myself and know there is an art to it and I feel my work is on a high level, but these ribs have me wanting to go study under this grill master. They were amazing. The coleslaw and Mac and cheese both held their own with the meat and I would definitely be back even though this spot is not close to home but the drive would be worth it. My Son-in-law and I were driving back home and we couldn't stop talking and thinking about the ribs. Thank God for Yell and for Jake's Grill opening up 16years ago and continuing to serve. Well worth your time and money to patronize these Brothers.

This is a small gem of a place that many locals visit as well as folks that travel just to eat here! It was our first time at Jake’s and will not be the last by any means. I will stop here and have great, well prepared BBQ style food over fast food any day and at around the same price or maybe less! The outside does not look impressive at all but please don’t be fooled, try it out! The inside was very basic as far as appearance with older furnishings and rather rough looking in regards to the paint, maintenance etc. Now, to the awesome part, the food! They have a basic menu of chicken, pork, ham, beef and turkey sandwiches in addition to half or full rack of ribs. They also have a rather large fixings area for the condiments with mayo, horseradish, ketchup, mustard, hot mustard, onion, lettuce, tomato, banana peppers, pickles and jalapeños. They serve two sides, Mac and cheese or coleslaw! We had the ham sandwich and the pit beef sandwich and both were phenomenal! Mac and cheese was pretty good too. They also have chips and bottled drinks available. All of the meats are smoked on premises and are cooked perfectly in my opinion. Service was fast and friendly and the atmosphere was that of a favorite hang out!

I have pretty much only great things to say about service, pricing and quality of food. Im giving four stars though due to the sketchy atmosphere dim lighting small menu and "Bachelor pad" type dining area or lack there of. Jakes could use some sprucing up, recess lighting, decorating and dusting would add the five star touch to this amazing pitt beef stop on Falls road. The gentlemen running this establishment are always warm welcoming respectful and full of smiles as soon as you enter the door. As soon as soon as you walk im though your meant woth the absentee dinning area to the left is an oddly placed register where one of the guys is awaiting you after you order your food, top it with condiments and wrap it up your self. He awaits to ring you in. The menu is a small wooden board with only about seven options on it. They do not offer French fries to my daughter's dismay! However they do have an amazing mac n cheese (homemade) and the coleslaw does not disappoint either. Personally i always order the beef cooked medium rare and it always comes over flowing with juicy flame cooked beef with a taste out of this world.... Oh boy can you taste that smoked flavor yummmm! Oh yes the ham is good to but of course eho wamts ham at a PITBEEF shop?!?! They have the condiments on a table right out in front of you where u order your food, free to put what ever you want om your sandwiches. The bottles of condiment could use better labeling however as your left to either ask what's what or mistakenly dump the wrong stuff onto your food as i almost did! If you dont mind the off putting and sometimes confusing atmosphere then you definitely must try Jakes Grill. These guys have been running this joint for years now and they sre great at what they do. The only issue is the state the store is im visually other then that you really can not go wrong with grabbing a bite to eat here. Ill be back for sure why stop mow after this many years..... By the way we come all the way from york pa for jakes pitbeef yep that's right it really is the...

Great service, wounderful interactive atmosphere, everyone is very nice. Jake and his brothers and employees are very down to earth personable working class people that make your lunch break fun and enjoyable as they crack jokes and talk smack to each other or anyone who dares to debate or enter the conversation all in good fun with no hard feelings. Its almost like the stereotypical barbershop atmosphere and is always entertaining. The service is always very quick they understand that some ppl just dnt have alot of time to wait but the workers somehow always find a way to engage in some kind of conversation with every single customer all while tak8ng orders, running out to the grill and back to slice meat and prepare the food. No matter how busy thet are everyone stays composed and moves at a very fast but smooth and steady pace to serve the customers. It may mot look like much as you ride by but it really is an amazing place for any kind of grilled, smoked and/or bbqed food. Jake does a fantastic job with preping and seasoning the meats and that makes all the difference and is why his food tastes soo much better than other places, even the big cooperations. Everything on the menu is seasoned and cooked to perfection. The meat is tender and moist and the homemade sides are also delicious. Oh and did i mention when you order any sandwhich ask for an extra roll because it comes with enough meat to make 2 or 3 regular sized sandwiches so you definitely get your moneys worth. The next time your hungry for ribs or pit beef GO TO JAKES! I promise you wont be disappointed and i guarantee you will...
