Not only is The Filling Station cute & fun, but has some of the best Mexican food in the Mid-Atlantic. Their menu is pretty amazing for such a small place. Each drink is better than the last; my favorite (tough pick) is the Mexican Hot Chocolate (cold version Mayan Iced Mocha). The staff is exceptional, highly competent, friendly, helpful & so fast I personally believe that they may be former Olympic medalists. It is obvious this is a good place to work & in my experience, employees treated well are invested in what they do & the good "vibe" doesn't exist at establishments that aren't well run, have good customer service, or have mediocre products. There is absolutely no reason NOT to try/frequent this place!!
Update: 2025 Not only is everything I said above still quite true, but their baked goods are OUTSTANDING!!! Al.ost everything is baked fresh, but I am flabbergasted how such a small place can excel at EVERYTHING! Things I avoid at other places because the item is dry, sawdust like, etc are all the opposite here. Moist, flaky, flavorful, delicious. Everything I've tried! Amazing. I have never cared for scones, for example, because they are usually tasteless bricks (and I worked on Manhattan for years where there is no shortage of bakeries) whereas here, at the Filling Station, the scones are superb. Get there early for the baked good, though, because they...
Read moreI’ve been stopping here for 6 or more years. I have bought art twice and always thought this place had great potential. But today was the last chance after many bad experiences. I walked in to two staff helping one person at the counter. I received no greeting. So I looked at the art, then looked in the cooler for a seltzer water that they didn’t have today. At this point they finished up with the customer. Still no greeting or acknowledgement that I was there at all. So I left, and even held the door for another person to come in. They never said a word to me. This really isn’t that big of a deal but seems to be the the norm. I have never been treated like a welcome customer. Even when I used to stop in a few times a month. Usually there is no greeting, and when I ask questions like ‘What kind of coffee are you using?’ I get answers like ‘Why would I...
Read moreYeah this place has a cool atmosphere... good coffee... good food... but the service is abhorrent. The only reason people go here is because it's the only trendy coffee place in Hunt Valley that isn't Starbucks. The people that work here will literally complain about making your coffee while they are making it. I have been here about ten times and not once have I received my order correctly. And then they act like it's your fault that they made it wrong. I ask for iced and they make it frozen. Ask for frozen they make it iced. The older woman that works here complains about pumping syrups into the coffee because she can "taste it" when she makes the drink. They forget soy milk all the time when people are lactose intolerant. They don't accept anything under $5 charges to credit cards. This is 2014 and you are a coffee shop- get...
