Big Boy Dining OutBig Boy Dining Out
C’s Waffles, 5600 SR 524, Inside Days Inn, Cocoa, FL 32926- 3.5-Stars (Chain Restaurant Rating) If the pithy apothegm, “You are what you eat,” is true, then the Big Boy must be part-cheesecake, part-biscuit, and part-waffle. When most Americans think of waffles, they think of the South, and the go-to waffle restaurant in the South since 1955 has been the eponymously named Waffle House. However, there is another player in town: C’s Waffles. Originally a Pennsylvania and Ohio chain founded in 1992 by Richard Ralph Cotelesse, Sr. in New Castle, Pennsylvania, Cotelesse moved to New Smyrna Beach, Florida in 2012, where he opened a C’s Waffles, then franchised rights to family members to open additional Florida locations. Unfortunately, Cotelesse at the age of 57, tragically died in a car crash in 2018, so it is up to his family to continue the C’s Waffles legacy. There are two C’s Waffles in Brevard County: one on Broad Street in Titusville, and this one inside the Days Inn on 524 in Cocoa, a clean crisp location with roomy tables. The day I went in, Mike, a long-time food industry worker at the top of his field, was my waiter. Mike moved fast and was very friendly and knowledgeable. I ordered the Biscuit & Gravy Combo billed as "C’s signature country sausage gravy over fresh biscuits with 2 eggs any style and hash browns." I was a tad suspicious of the hash browns as I saw single serving piles on the grill awaiting a consumer. However, the gravy looked more promising as it was made in a giant vat and not from powder. I always expect biscuits in places like this to be bad. While the biscuits here were not handmade, they were very good for frozen reheats. Overall, the meal was above average. From the Waffle section of the menu, I chose the Powdered Sugar. This waffle was light and fluffy, unlike the dense waffles at the House. Pretty darn good. Although the menu at C’s Waffles is small, the food is worth a stop. The Big Boy says, “Nothing fancy and nothing scattered, covered, or chunked at C’s Waffles, but it is good.”

This place is a definite gem. I can’t believe I’ve never heard of this place up until this past weekend…I don’t live to far away and this place is in the part of Cocoa where restaurants are needed. It’s literally right off interstate 95. I would rather come here than many other breakfasts spots that are in the area. But for this occasion we ordered through doordash for a pickup. When I got there to pickup the order I was immediately greeted and saw they were pretty slammed (which is a good sign). Went up to the bar to speak to the waitress on my order and it wasn’t submitted in yet. That’s how busy it was. So it was another 15 min wait to wait on our order. But it was cool. We had a nice spread: Waffles, Homemade Corn Beef n Hash, scrambled eggs n Cheddar cheese, Texas Omelette, Diced Potatoes, Grits, Bacon and Sausage links. Everything we had was amazing. They sure got a new customer. Everything was on point. The corn beef n hash was the main reason I came. I was looking for a place who made this from scratch and this place does. It had shredded beef brisket, potatoes, and onions…diced potatoes were seasoned perfectly..it was pretty good and I wanted another 3-4 more helpings. The grits was probably the best grits I’ve had from a restaurant. I didn’t need to add anything to them. Usually I would need to add butter, salt or pepper. But the only thing they needed from me was to be in my mouth 😆. Next time I come back I will try something different. Can’t wait to come back.

I've heard many great things about this restaurant and before we moved, we wanted to try it. Unfortunately, my experience deserves less than 1 star. Ordered through Uber eats, apparently there was a problem with the Uber drivers payment so it was sent to another Uber eats driver. In between this, I saw there was an issue on the app, so I called the restaurant directly and the woman said everything was sorted out (obviously it wasn't). At this point, my food had been sitting for 15 mins. When the new driver got there, she requested them to make new food so it wouldn't be soggy and cold, where the restaurant completely refused and said I'd have to pay for them to make the food again. I understand that this isn't anyone's fault, but a couple eggs and a waffle doesn't cost that much to make and it shows the restaurant truly cares about their service and name. After a bunch of back and forth, they agreed to remake a scrambled egg and an over easy egg. Upon delivery, I noticed instead of a banana waffle, they sent a whole banana. I paid $6 for a banana. That waffle I ordered was for my toddler, so he was without a cold soggy waffle, but the whole banana was the best thing we ordered. Honestly, the management was such a let down, can't say much about the food bc it was all cold and soggy. The Uber eats driver went above and beyond to try to make things right, and communicated so well. I'd never recommend this restaurant to anyone. There's so many other places to try where they have much better customer...
