Good coffee but a 3 day old deli sandwich. I frequent the Bakery often, as I like the atmosphere and the view; coffee is good, bagels are great. Lately have been stopping in for lunch and grab a deli sandwich, which generally have been okay. Today, after putting mustard on one half and taking several bites, it seemed really wilted. When I took the bread off and looked at the second half, it was evident this sandwich was not fresh, very wilted lettuce and a tomato that had been there for some time. I spoke to one of the girls behind counter and noted the sandwich was not fresh. The response? "They are never in there for more than a week". Oh wow, did I just hear that correctly? This place keeps 'fresh deli sandwiches' in the cooler for a week and sells them? "When was mine made?" I asked. She looked at the numbers on the back (344) and came back and said "3 days ago". "you want me to make you another one?" she asked? "No thanks". I can't begin to say how disappointed and actually shocked I was. Why would anyone purchase a 3 day or older sandwich? Spoilage, Food Poisoning, Health and safety issues. I will probably continue to go there for coffee, bagels are great. But I doubt I'll ever pick up a deli sandwich again, or perhaps ask if they would make me one fresh, while I wait. This issue really needs to be addressed by the...

I also like their unapologetic declarations that their bread contains gluten (then again, I tend to like anything that flouts today's bovine herd mentality, pitiful fragility, and shameless race to the bottom.)
This place is popular with locals, but because it's a bit off the main tourist area, it's less known by tourists.
A great thing: not once did I ever wear a mask here during 2020. I saw few others doing so either. This establishment was assuredly against the mass madness of the time. Bravo! On this basis alone they won my business.
The one area for improvement concerns certain of their young employees, who are a bit surly and barely look one in the eye. I've been coming here for years, but with barely an acknowledgement from these types. Such behavior, of course, reflects the degenerate race to the bottom across all sectors of today's philistine anticulture, so I don't strongly hold this against the owners. And of course being surly is virtually de rigueur for a barrista. I should know; I used to be...
Read moreLet me start off by saying we had two good turkey panini sandwiches... Buuutttt we also ordered a grilled cheese on white bread which I thought would taste great because their other sandwiches are good...this sandwich was for my daughter who is 13 years old... I hopefully included the pictures I took of it to show how it came. I didn't pay attention to the price but I'm sure it was more than a couple dollars. That is why I feel it's important to show this review... So people know what they are getting... Let me just say I was shocked at the low quality of the sandwich. It is paper thin and hard as a rock... My daughter took one bite and had to tear at it just to get that bite off the sandwich! Let me just say now that this was our lunch and a to go order so we we not in a position to go back to deal with this issue. But my daughter ended up with no lunch and that really ticked me off. I'll stop here as I feel the pictures speak a thousand words. Oh and the paper was stuck to the sandwich so that is gross! I also included pictures of the sandwich compared to my little vape just to show how thin this...
