We've been here multiple times, all good before now so I'm only taking it down 2 stars, but had a bad experience tonight. Ordered a dinner salad and took a bite, it was super weird and not yummy. I started going through and the lettuce was very old. There were super soggy and almost moldy looking pieces. I'm sorry but this is not ok. This was a $16+ salad. For that price you need to go through the lettuce and make sure every piece is clean and worthy of eating. Don't just throw a bunch of garbage in a bowl and charge that for it. Lost my appetite after that and I had actually been wanting to come back here for a salad. Crazy how you can ruin someone's view with carelessness like that. Don't think I'll be back for a long while as my husband and I had to share dinner. Also the drink cups are like tiny. Like you can drink the water in a couple drinks, invest in some better cups unless you want to be refilling frequently or having people sit with empty cups. My soda that they "comped" was almost all ice. Oh and they took off the salad I didn't eat ... Lol. Thanks! Could've taken off the app or offered more than a free soda seeing as our dinner date was ruined.
Previous: Super impressed and will be back for sure. The food was authentic German food and it was really good. We started with a pretzel with beer cheese. Pretzel was very soft and had great flavor. I had this schnitzel with sauerkraut and the breading was amazing. The sauerkraut was great too. It came with shoestring fries that were cooked perfect and had good flavor. My husband had the Ruben and it was amazing as well. We finish up with the apple strudel dessert. The only bummer was they were out of vanilla ice cream so we got mint ice cream with it which was kind of weird but it was still good. We sat in the little outside patio area. I love how the servers here help each other out and check on each other's tables and make sure you have everything you need. Everyone was super friendly and checked on us multiple times. They all told us thanks for coming and it was just a really friendly place. Great find in downtown...
Read moreWent for dinner tonight with my wife and the food was lackluster to be generous.
We had 3 different wursts, sides of fries and spatzle and rolls.
All the wursts tasted like they were boiled and then put on a grill for a few seconds in a failed attempt to crisp them up. They were lukewarm and borderline flavorless.
The spatzle had texture of having been cooked well in advance (gummy) and had some sauce slapped on it.
The fries and rolls were basically inedible due to the amount of salt put on them in the kitchen. When we mentioned it to the waiter he said “oh I know exactly what you’re talking about. That happens sometimes when the shaker gets stopped up and then clears up”. I would think that when that happens, you replace the food that got flooded. Either that or replace the shaker, but what do I know.
Overall not the worst dining experience I’ve ever had but definitely not good enough to get me to go back.
Edit: to address the owners comments on their reply, NO there was no offer to “redo your food” that was declined. The waiter simply offered an explanation for why there was obscene amount of salt on everything, but never once offered to bring out a new plate of food. This could be because we were basically left alone until we finished our meal so we would be too full to take them up on an offer after the fact, but who’s to say.
That being said, I didn’t ask for anything to be fixed, nor did they offer at any point. When the food was that bad and clearly not prepared well, in my opinion asking for new food would only result in the same poor quality as the first go round since let’s be real, they weren’t going to make fresh anything just for us.
Overall, a blatant false statement from the owner and the poor quality of food will ensure I never return. There are plenty of superior options in town and no need to result to spending money and time in an inadequate...
Read moreI was so excited to have a German restaurant in town, having been born and lived there for many years. The atmosphere had several authentic German touches, from the regional crest to the fussball flags. I was surprised that there was no German ompapa music in the background and the waitresses wore your typical jeans and t-shirts. She greeted us promptly and handed us menus. The print was so small that even someone with 20/20 vision had difficulty reading it. I ordered the Jaegerschnitzel, but was very disappointed to find out that they do not serve Spaetzel ! Two sides were offered. I chose the french fries and a macaroni and cheese. Our food arrived along with a mini carton of a variety of sauces/dips for the french fries. I was happy to see the spicy curry ketchup as it is a very traditional German dip for "pommes frites"....and they were delicious ! The Jaegerschnitzel was a generous portion, but a little on the overdone side. The mushroom sauce needed to be cooked down as the taste of the wine was too forward, overwhelming the whole dish. And no brotchen or bread of any kind. Germans are big on bread and butter, so that was a surprise. I didn't try the desert, but I'll be going back to try some, as well as sample the other dishes....and have some more pommes frites ! I'm hoping that they'll reconsider offering Spaetzel ! I'm sure, like all new restaurants, they have some kinks to work out. I'm routing for you...
