I was excited for this new donut and coffee shop to open up and dropped in today to try it out. Unfortunately, it disappointed. The donuts are decent, but basically the entire selection is just plain raised and cake donuts with simple flavored glazes. “Margarita” is just a little lime and salt mixed into the glaze. “Blueberry cheesecake” just blueberry syrup and a little vanilla mixed in. The “Strawberry Ricotta” was bland with nearly no flavor in the ricotta filling. And at $3.50 a pop, they need to up their donut game. Now let’s talk coffee. I’m a huge fan of Union roasters on 4th so figured the coffee would be great, but it seems the staff at Blvd aren’t properly trained how to properly pull espresso shots. My $6 quad Americano tasted like weak watered down drip coffee, leaving me wondering if the staff are inexperienced and a bit in over their heads in the espresso arena. I will give props to the designer, as the interior was classy and spacious and the atmosphere had an inviting vibe. I’ll give them another try in a month and hopefully they’ll be much better baristas and put more effort into making true artisan donuts. Until then, I’ll keep getting my donuts at Breaking Bread and my americanos at Union on 4th. *Update 9/12/25 - Gave BLVD another chance and saw some improvement, so upgraded my service rating (4 stars) and overall rating (3 stars). Service was much better, appreciated how personable the two ladies were behind the counter, and the coffee (quad Americano) was admittedly better, not quite as good as the Union shop on 4th but getting closer to that level. As for the donuts, still not impressed. Orange cardamon raised donut didn't taste like orange or cardamon, just a plain raised donut. The blueberry cake donut was good with the right amount of light glaze, but average...

BLVD Doughnuts – Worth the Sin

Most doughnut shops sell sugar bombs engineered to make dentists rich. BLVD Doughnuts, though? They play a different game.

The strawberry ricotta was fluffy enough to make me question if I’ve been eating packing foam disguised as doughnuts my whole life. The savory cream in the middle; God’s little reminder that maybe gluttony isn’t the worst of the seven sins. The pistachio? Same story. Airy, nutty, dangerously easy to inhale without realizing you’re already planning the next visit.

My wife went old-school with a chocolate sprinkle and announced it was the best she’s ever had. Which, considering she’s usually more critical than a French food critic on a bender, says something. The icing didn’t smear all over like a cheap one-night stand; it was clean, balanced, and actually tasted like chocolate.

BLVD doesn’t just make doughnuts. They ruin other doughnuts for you. This place is the kind of spot you tell yourself you’ll only visit once a week… then find yourself sneaking back like it’s an affair. Only difference? Your mistress here is fried dough, and she doesn’t text you at 2 a.m. asking for cab fare.

Great food deserves great company. Join me at Northwest Chef Food Reviews on Facebook for more delicious...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Four-Star Review for Blvd Donuts (Coeur d’Alene, ID)

Blvd Donuts is a bright and welcoming spot that instantly feels like a treat. The facility is immaculately clean—you can tell great care goes into every detail, from the polished counters to the cheerful, modern decor. It’s the perfect place to host a casual meeting or bring your kids for a well-deserved donut date.

The real standout here is the Margarita Donut—a masterpiece of sweet and tangy balance. The lime glaze has a refreshing pop, with just a hint of salt that makes each bite feel fun and unexpected. It’s playful, delicious, and something you won’t find anywhere else in town.

And the best part? They serve Union Coffee, which is hands down the best coffee in Coeur d’Alene. Smooth, rich, and perfectly brewed—it complements their creative donuts beautifully.

Verdict: A spotless shop, fantastic coffee, and inventive flavors make Blvd Donuts a must-visit. One star shy of perfect only because now I’m spoiled and can’t drink coffee or eat donuts...

Nice to have a new donut shop in town. I was excited to try and the donuts are pretty good. I will say the disappointment comes in the prices and the lack of flavors available. It is a huge very nice building in a good location. I just expected a lot more flavor-wise. There wasn't too great of a selection. The huge downfall is the price at $3.50 a donut. That is really stretching it unless it's some exotic specialty donut. Even if you do the half dozen It is still over $3 a donut. I like that they have food and drinks and it seems like a cute little location I'm just not sure how long it will last at those prices. Positives were friendly staff, good location, easy parking, lots of seating inside.

Pros: love the atmosphere and trendy modern look of the inside and decor, the blue boxes and blue coffee cups are so cute. I love the marketing. The donuts are delicious and offer fun creative flavors. The orange zest and classic chocolate and also strawberry were very good. So happy to finally have a doughnut place in CDA that isn’t a grocery store. Cons: I’ve been given the wrong donut flavor twice, so I don’t know if their donuts are mislabeled or if the employees are just not taking their time. I asked for the margarita doughnut ones and when I came home it appeared that it was like a pumpkin or chai one. The donuts are also somewhat overpriced. But definitely delicious :)
