I am so disappointed in myself that I haven’t written a review for this exceptional sandwich spot. To me, this is easily a top two option for big, tasty ‘sammiches’ in the Couer d’Alene area. I have been going here for multiple years now and honestly still crave it.
One big caveat, though: it’s a single sandwich my heart is set on and that is the Hot Bobbie. It’s basically Thanksgiving dinner on a very nicely baked Yule log of bread and it’s stunning every time. It’s even made better when during the holidays, they provide gravy to dip it in. I would love if they kept it year-round and I could consume the condiment of kings on a one hundred degree day, but I’m weird like that.
That aside, I have had their meatball sandwich, as well, and it is also one of the best around. The meat spheres are big, fluffy, and of better quality than anything else I’ve ever had at a chain restaurant. The marinara sauce also isn’t overly sweet and they don’t skimp on the cheese: truly, a highly recommended back-up to the Bobbie option in my book.
Are they the cheapest? No. I am very grateful for their points program, which does give you a nice discount after a reasonable number of purchases. However, I have never come across feeling ripped off and you can typically make two meals out of even a medium-sized sandwich.
Are the sandwiches sometimes ‘wet’, as I’ve seen noted in other reviews? Yes, of course. It’s a big, sloppy, jam-packed hoagie, not a cucumber and watercress tea sandwich to be consumed pinky-up.
There’s a reason why the Hot Bobbie once won “Best Sandwich in ‘Murika (TM)” and I honestly see why every time I get one. This spot is more than worth a try; just expect your hands...
Read morefirst visit and came away exceedingly underwhelmed. i got take out, ordered thru their app. app is a little clunky but not difficult to navigate. once my ordered was placed the ETA was 15 minutes. customer service is severely lacking. i would venture a guess the cheery, friendly, enthusiastic (end sarcasm font) person eventually assisting me had never bagged anything in a plastic bag before, but i digress. i got a steak philly and the wife got the "hot bob", which is basically thanksgiving on a roll. after reading posts about Capriotti's coming to CdA i had high hopes. philly was super bland. didn't taste seasoned whatsoever. the peppers and mushrooms were pretty tasty. just a basic sub roll. nothing special. just meh. the hot bob was definitely better but still just ok. turkey was a little dry, but at least tasted like real turkey and not like processed deli turkey. i will probably return. I'm signed up for their emails for coupons and deals so i will sample some more of the menu. i know they're still fairly new. hopefully it gets better.
UPDATE came back last week to give them another try. vastly improved!! wife got the Hot Bob again and liked it much more, my Slaw Be Jo was absolutely delicious. online order pickup area is a little tight and still not much in the way of customer service but the sammiches are...
Read moreStopped here for lunch with my mom before heading to the Spokane Airport. We stopped here because they not only have a vegetarian turkey option but also a impossible cheese steak option. I am vegetarian w/ lactose intolerance, and my mom is a traditional omnivore. I will be honest, not a huge sandwich person. Especially because I can't have cheese. I won't hold that against them though. -1 star because I wish they had some non-dairy cheese alternatives and a simple sandwich option but other than that the food was really good. I got the vegetarian turkey sandwich and I took off the Mayo, mustard, cheese, and tomato (like I said not a huge sandwich lover) but my plain vege turkey and lettuce sandwich was delicious. The turkey was savory and felt like turkey (not every vegetarians ideal, but definitely mine). The lettuce was fresh and crispy, and the bread was fluffy and tasty. All and all, very good food would recommend. The staff was very nice and talkative too, my mom loves chatting. And if we were seated they would bring our sandwiches to us which was a nice touch. And they were really accommodating to my removal requests. A big reason I don't traditionally go to sandwich shops is because I don't know how accommodating they will be. So, very nice staff and good food, would recommend. Especially if...
