I feel bad for the China Inn. Just terrible, in fact.

Why, you might ask?

Because... The Mongolian Beef

The Mongolian Beef is so wonderful, so tremendously delicious, I have absolutely NO idea if they make anything else nearly as wonderful or even better, in comparison!

Do I want to spice it up, asks the waitress? No While I enjoy spicy food, in this instance, the extra spice changes the flavor profile, so I recommend just let the cooks do their magic, no extra spice needed.

And it's even worse for us customers! How do we go in to a restaurant and pretend we are there for anything other than the Mongolian Beef? We fake looking at the menu in the hopes they won't see our addiction and take advantage of us... But they know.

Seriously, this is the Best Mongolian Beef in town, sadly, that's not saying much for Coeur d'Alene, but I would even challenge ANY restaurant in the Spokane area to beat this dish, it's fantastic.

If any restaurant will take the challenge, put your restaurant in the Comments, and I, and any other readers, will try it out in the next 3 months, and I'll give you a fair tasting, one Mongolian Beef review a week, if you're game! This...

I'm always curious about reviews. I never give a poor rating when it's my first visit. Hey, I'll give a place second chance. This however was our visit and it was delightful. Our server was patient, knowledge and quick witted. The atmosphere and circuses are a bit tired, and could use freshening up. The food, well the food is why I dine out. Everything we had, 5 of us, was fresh, hot and flavorful. The vegetables were not overcooked, rather they were crispy, not soggy. The rice, that is the fried rice, was not oily and didn't have that burnt flavour which can happen. When ordering the Mongolian Beef I was asked how I wanted it spiced, mild or hot. I asked for it hot, and it arrived just hot enough to create that warm sensation around the forehead. Nice. The egg roll was not over fried, or crusty, rather it was hot, crispy and the ingredients, again, fresh. The ONLY thing that lacked flavor was the tea. They were out of the jasmine tea, which was disappointing, however not worth one less star. I suppose anyplace can have off night, I...

I ordered from here February 2, 2019 at 2:45pm I was told that my order would arrive in 30mins. (Because I lived in Post Falls) Which should have put my order arriving at 3:15pm. I called the restaurant at 3:30pm and asked why I haven’t received my food yet. And they told me that the delivery driver left CDA 25 mins prior, and that the driver should arrive in minutes. So I let 15 more mins go by, and called back again at 3:45pm. I asked to speak to a manager, and was on hold for several minutes before the manager came to the phone. I told the manager that I was very pregnant and very hungry and that I was disappointed at the 1 hour long wait, and that I wanted to cancel my order. The manager told me that she was going to reach out to the driver and have them cancel my order, not even offering to give a discounted price or anything. Then justified the late delivery by saying that the driver was busy with 3 other deliveries. I was not at all impressed with the customer...

Great authentic everyday Chinese food at affordable prices. The server Debra is warm friendly and compassionate. It’s worth visiting the restaurant just to be greeted with a smile and friendly conversation. I often dine alone. The food is delicious and the stir fry items delivers the kiss from the wok taste. The black bean sauce is especially flavorful and not commonly offered in this area. The wor wonton soup has vegetables shrimp chicken beef and house made BBQ pork. Off the menu but available pending the availability of ingredients are boiled beef soup and pork spare ribs. The restaurant uses a ton of fresh vegetables including Chinese vegetables like bok choy. Naturally vegetarian dishes are plentiful. The building itself has a lot of history and charm. A true gem! 😋

We ordered to-go. We received 2 large tasty 32 oz containers of main dish items. Then only 1 small 16 oz container of white rice which didn’t even cover 1 of those containers of meat. We ordered potstickers (6 per order), there was 5 in the container. I thought it was a mistake regarding the rice, so I called them. They were very nice, but it turns out, nope, that’s all they give you. Doesn’t make sense for such a cheap item that they don’t give you enough for your meal, which unfortunately makes for incomplete dining experience. Food tasted pretty good. Owners need to rethink what they give you. If visiting, we won’t be back.
