Denny's — Restaurant in Coeur d'Alene

We have been to this Denny's several times and its been mostly okish every time. Last night hubby and i went in with our daughter and it was a beyond horrible experience. We ordered 2 slamwiches and pancakes for our daughter. When our food arrived i ate 2 fries before noticing a curly black hair cooked into one of them EWWW!!! I showed our waitress and she took the plate to the kitchen, she never apologized for the nastiness on the plate. Our waitress returned and said the kitchen was making a new sandwich. While we waited for the new food i noticed that my hubby's fries also had not one but TWO curly black hairs in them EWWW so thats now a total of 3 hairs in our food. Hubby pointed out the hairs to our server and she ran off with his plate too, yet again with no apology. The remakes seemed ok but by that point we had both pretty much lost our appetites and they never even asked if we still wanted to eat. The manager delivered the second remake so i'm sure he was aware of the issue but beyond running the plate he seemed to be avoiding us. In our time there all 3 of us would have at least enjoyed a refill for our $3 sodas but our cups remained empty on the edge of our table for the majority of our visit. After the remade food arrived we were ignored for about 30+min waiting for our check while our toddler became restless and grumpy from having to wait. Server Shelley M. 8/16/24 - Order #340807 - 55+ Scr egg/ch. - mine had more cheese than egg, husbands missing bacon both were COLD. We arrived around 9:45 am. Shelly had no idea what she was doing.. After about 25 min or so I asked for cream and napkins, (stood up and had to find her) Shelley said “you haven’t got your food yet” like she was surprised. Isn’t she the one that served us? Wow.. She had to of let the food sit there, due to it being cold. When she finally got the food to us, only one pancake because she said the manager didn’t like the way the other one looked. Had to serve my own coffee twice. Asked for to go cups, which we received. I ASKED Shelly to just fill them, so I wouldn’t have to keep serving myself. She said she’d fill them when we were ready to leave, I told her no, because we’d never see her again. She promised she’d be back, never saw her again. I once again served my to go cup myself. Took my pancakes to cashier for a to go box and the bill. Cashier acted like this always happens. Wow! And I don’t even want to talk about the cleanleness of the place. Had to wipe the silverware off, the rim of coffee cup made my napkin brown, I wouldn’t even drink out of the water glass. The floor was so greasy I can’t believe no one has slipped and fell. If I could’ve rated this experience a zero or negative stars I would have! To start off with, when my wife went to the ladies room, it was so dirty that she felt violated just being there. The server couldn’t get our order right despite having to come back on two separate occasions to double/triple check. I had the chorizo skillet and the Eggs came out over hard instead of over easy. The rest of the food was salty and I felt my blood pressure was getting higher with every bite. My wife ordered the berry French toast ala cart with a side of crisp bacon. What she ended up getting was limp bacon that tasted like it had been cooked in the same grease as my chorizo was cooked in. My wife HATES chorizo! On top of everything else, I was barely offered one cup of lukewarm coffee with no water, and no offer to top off my coffee at any time. The waitress never even checked on us as to the quality of our meals. Never eating here again! I normally tip a minimum of 20% all the way up to 200% due to paying my way through college as a waiter (at a Dennys Restaurant) 35 years ago. I know how frustrating the job can be, but this was uncalled for. This time, no tip whatsoever.
