New Mexican spot in town with healthy options. We had to try, of course. From walking in it's a little confusing whether you order at the counter or sit down at a table, but I guess you can do either. If you are wanting to order to go you order at the counter or you can sit. We got the chips and queso and the queso is pretty good. The chips were pretty basic. We tried two different kinds of the salsa and they were both yummy. Got the serrano peppers which I highly caution against because they were super spicy and I was literally crying from the spice. Try them if you live spice. They have a lot of beverage choices including non-alcoholic beverages. We tried the elote which was awesome. My husband got a burrito with potatoes and guacamole added and it was very awesome and tasty. I got the chicken tacos and they were very tasty. The staff was all very friendly. They let us know that they use a healthy kind of oil for cooking which is tallow oil I believe. I feel you could choose healthy options here such as the bowl or the tacos and skip the chips if you want to eat healthy. We definitely will be back again and I highly...

UNBELIEVABLE entire experience. Having lived in a number of major cities that are culinary powerhouses, it's hard to find good food around the small, beautiful town of CDA, but Sam has changed that by creating something truly amazing here with El Jefe's.

It had everything; insanely delicious flavors with fresh ingredients that are consciously sourced, friendly atmosphere that welcomes you right in and unparalleled service that obliges you to come back regularly.

Christian and Gauge are a couple of the most passionate chefs and genuinely kind folks who went above and beyond behind their custom, in-house smoker stove imported from Nashville to accomodate a slew of allergies and intolerances which most others would have been annoyed with. In fact, they happily invited the challenge 30 minutes before closing!

I'm very thankful they did because the custom wing recipe they cooked up in 10 minutes to be so accomodating was the best wings I've ever eaten in my life, no exaggeration. My Mexican steak sandwhich was off the charts delicious as well.

Can not wait for next time - Thank you Sam,...

Yum! 10 out of 10! They were still in the soft opening so not everything was available, but everything I had was amazing! I ordered the, chips and guac, combo plate and the Sonoran dog and a glass of red wine. They are still learning their red wine so I got to try a makeshift flight: beautiful dry Spanish red, a big bold Napa red blend and a light Italian red that was my favorite. The chips looked heavy, but were surprisingly light and paired well with guac and salsa. The med salsa is smoked in house and has a great smoky flavor. The guac and pico are both light and fresh. Now for the main event: the chicken was succulent and had good flavor, especially when paired with the sauces. But the steak stole the show! Damn! That's just good. Did I mention I got the Sonoran dog? If you are a dog lover like me, don't pass this up!! There is so much going on, but the flavors perfectly compliment each other. The smokiness of the bacon really comes through. I am looking forward to trying all of the other things on the menu and definitely so excited about this...

Let me start with the good, the food, it was delicious and beautifully presented. Here is everything else. You walk up to the counter to order and pay, and pay we did, $43! Prepare to pay for the chips and salsa, the chips were blah(cold). They don’t have a soda machine, so the ice is kept in an upright cooler thing that the gal reached into to get ice out of, with unwashed hands. There is no sign for the restroom, I finally found it, but walked by the cook on his phone. I sure hope those hands that used that phone were washed before preparing my food! Once my food came, I wasn’t given a fork. The forks were on counter in a container for all to help themselves. Ugh! Regardless of the fact the food was awesome, please practice cross contamination guidelines! I saw more, just saying, I wouldn’t return to eat here, ever.
