Not sure if this place just opened but they definitely need to work on their service and speed. I'm giving it a 3 because the food was pretty good, if just based on food I would've said 4. Service was more like a 2. The negative: Very young girl, innatentive, barely checked on us. The water tasted like it was from the lake and I literally almost got sick from it. We waited FOREVER for our crab Rangoon appetizer. The inside was pretty cold and chunky. I felt like it would be good if it was heated. We then waited a very long time time for our food and didn't get checked on the whole time to see if we needed a refill. No apology on it being so long or any update. My husband had the spicy ramen and it was really good. I had the chicken katsu with fried rice. That was also really good. The macaroni salad was also yummy. I just feel like they need some extra help here and some lessons in customer service. Maybe someone supervising the two young children working out front running the place. I personally won't put this on my come back list for a very long time. Seemed that they were giving better service to the take out orders so maybe I'll try that.

I LOVE that there is a new Hawaiian place! I didn’t take pictures of our food before we started eating it, but it was all soooooo tasty. And relatively authentic Hawaiian. We had spam musubi, pot stickers and poke for pupus. The only thing I didn’t like about the musubi was that there wasn’t furakake seasoning! But it was still tasty. But I was definitely missing that seasoning. Poke was very good. Reminded me of the kind I used to get in Hawaii. The pot stickers were really good. Kids split the pork nachos special. It was good but the nacho cheese was a little spicy for kids. Pork was super yummy though! Hubbs and I both got loco mocos. Very tasty! Then we had the dole whip for desert. That was VERY GOOD too! Overall I loved the place and will be back. They didn’t have the hot pots set up in the tables yet so that was a Little awkward with the table full of plates. Made them a little unstable. And the booths were weird with very limited leg room. But overall a good vibe and not a deal breaker. I’m sure they’ll work out the kinks the longer they’re open. They’ve only been open for 3 months! Definitely will be back!

I love when North Idaho gets more food variety, when when I heard this place was opening I was pretty excited to try it. We started with Maui IPA and Strawberry Soju. Very nice. We got the friend wonton dumplings, Katsu chicken, and BBQ short ribs. The fried wontons came with a nice flavorful dipping sauce. A nice way to start the meal. The Katsu chicken came with macaroni salad and we opted for the fried rice instead of steamed rice. Friend rice was amazing and I loved the Portuguese sausage in it. The BBQ short ribs were large and were perfectly cooked. Nice marbling and flavor. We opted for the steamed white rice and it was nicely cooked. The macaroni salad was a little peppery and less sweet than other Hawaiian places we have been to. Overall, for my taste buds, I would say they are a little heavy on the soy sauce usage in their cooking and dipping sauces. But not enough for a lower rating or to stop me from coming back again very soon! We also got the dole whip which is a MUST. Overall we can't wait to come back for more!

After hearing so much about Hula Pot over the last few weeks, I took my 6 year old son out for lunch today. I have been following all the feedback they've been receiving but not knowing exactly what to expect, I was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful restaurant that awaited us. It's clean, modern, stylish, fun. If they add some tropical plants, it will be even more of a Hawaiian oasis. Given they've just opened, I thought it was truly very nice, maybe even better than I expected.

Our waiter was awesome! He quickly got us seated and took our orders. My son had a hard time using the chopsticks so I asked if they had the little plastic things for kids, which they said they sadly didn't. No big deal! I'm sure it's something they can add along the way. However, our waiter came back 5 mins later and made one out of some plastic and paper so my son could use the chopsticks! It served its purpose and it was just really so nice of him to go the extra mile for us!!

Food was delicious! Now living in Hawaii I was familiar with the dishes but I have to say it was the most delicious spam musubi and mac salad I've ever had! We were even gifted a little bowl of Dole ice cream, which was the cherry on top! I know they said they're still working on toppings, but the gummy sharks they put on it were everything a little boy could ask for!

Overall, we had a fantastic visit to Hula Pot! They can always add some little activities for kids to keep them busy while they wait but that would be my only tip to make it even more family friendly! I definitely recommend this place and we will surely be back in the future! Mahalo...
