My wife and I have been talking about going here for quite sometime. We ended up in CdA so we finally went for lunch and omfg! So eff'n bomb! We ended up ordering vegetarian sandwiches and didn't even realize there wasn't any meat. The list of awesomeness caught our eye. Next time I'll be more carnivorous. The dude, definitely a manager and possibly the owner, hooked us up with chips and dips. I was gonna pay for them but he said "I got you" and loaded us up. Where I get dog food is about a mile from Meltz so I'll be going there once a month for sure. Heck it's worth the drive in itself. I can't give this place enough stars! We need a Meltz in Spokane but then I'd probably put on 50 lbs so maybe it's a good thing it's almost an hour away. Also gotta give them a shout out for superior customer service! Everyone in there is welcoming and energetic. Smiles for miles in this place, both employees and customers. I simply can't rave about this place enough!! We'll be back many, many times and we'll be bringing people with us. After I wrote this review I checked out the one star ratings. I can't believe how unbelievably petty people can be! I whole heartedly and with great enthusiasm disagree with absolutely every poor review this establishment received! Some people have nothing better to do with their time but complain, even at the expense of a business's reputation! The poor review that I give the gold to is the one complaining about too much cheese at a restaurant that is all about cheese! Just.....wow! I'm glad to see so many people have taken the time, as I have, to leave more legit and accurate reviews. I'm also happy to see the five star reviews incredibly outnumber the one and two star reviews. I mean, nobody nor is any business perfect. But judging by the owner's responses including leaving his personal contact information, he genuinely cares about his customers and only wants the best for them. Judging by mine and my wife's recent visit, I can first hand tell you that all of the employees at this Meltz want nothing but the best for their customers. The level of service and the general demeanor of the employees is a breath of fresh air. This was the best experience I've had at any restaurant in a long time! Again, we will be back at least on a monthly basis and I'll try to bring some friends and family when I/we go. One's life is not complete without a visit to Meltz.
After writing this previously and going back again, I went full carnivore this time like I said I would. Everything I said above remains to be true! The...
Read more5.27.25 updated review: I said I wanted to come back to try something more classic and that's exactly what I did. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted. It was after lunch hour so we missed the rush and it was pretty quiet inside. The same employee (I don't think she was wearing a name tag) who took our order was smiling, friendly, and personable and even when she wasn't helping customers, she stayed busy with other tasks.
I went with the Ultimate Meltz, which comes with 6 different cheeses: white cheddar, mozzarella, provolone, fontina, goat cheese, and gorgonzola. Talk about cheesy! (See video) Same employee even delivered our food to our table. It arrived hot and it's cheesiness did not disappoint. Surprisingly all the cheeses blended well, yet you could still distinctly taste each individual cheese. I also got a Royale cookie, which has chocolate chips, coconut, and macadamia nuts. It had a good softness to it and not overly gooey nor undercooked. As for my drink, I went with my go-to fountain cream soda. So many good choices here that I have no idea what I'll get next lol. Updated review gets 5 stars across the board.
4.17.25: I'm a fan of grilled cheese sandwiches and wanted to try something new. They have a big menu with lots of tasty options. I'm still fasting on meat and so I went with the Briqueso that sounded loaded and amazing. All sandwiches are made to order too. Quick recap, the Briqueso has white cheddar, brie mousse, roasted artichoke, sweet red pepper, caramelized onion, garlicky spinach, and grilled zucchini. I ordered a full size and it was pretty big and came out steaming hot with cheese oozing out the sides. It was so tasty and all the veggie goodness melded together really well. It's worth noting they have really good fountain cream soda too. I also tried the chocolate chip cookie, which was a decent size. It wasn't too soft nor stale either. However, at $3.50 each, it's a bit pricey. The restaurant itself was nice inside, but it is kinda cramped. I get it, they're trying to utilize all the space they got. Service at the order counter was mediocre, but at least she wasn't rude. I'll be back again because I want to try a more traditional grilled cheese with...
Read moreAmazing food, prices are a little high.
I ordered a half grilled cheese, a bowl of tomato basil bisque, and the cobb salad while my bf ordered the simpleton without guacamole. His sandwich came with the guac, but other than that it was great. I've had the simpleton before, and it is good, I don't think it's worth 15.50 though (I feel like a decent price would be 8-10 dollars for just the sandwich). The salad I ordered was great and the price was fine, but the dressing was too small. Most of my salad was dry. Didn't think I'd have to ask for 2 dressings since I figured the one they give would be sufficient. As for the soup, it was delicious. Exactly as I imagined it would taste, but not the size I imagined. I ordered the bowl, but it came in the size I would have expected the "cup" to be, because it was literally the volume of about 1 cup. For almost 6 dollars for that volume...not worth it and I wish I didn't pay for it. I could have made a whole pot of tomato basil bisque at home for that cost. And lastly, for my half sandwich, it was good. The price of 3.75 I felt like is decent and it tasted great. I got just white cheddar on sourdough.
Overall, the food is wonderful and the price point is high for what you're getting. If you go to experience what all the hype is all about, I recommend just sticking to the grilled cheeses because that is what they're good at. If you want to waste a lot of money on bread and cheese this is the...
