Mod Pizza, is the original "Build your pizza" place. It originated in Seattle in 2008. People call this the "Subway of Pizza". You can choose a "classic" pizza or salad off the menu board, and +/- any toppings. Or, you can Build it yourself, from the crust to the plate. THE PRICE DOESNT CHANGE. So you can have the simple favorites you like, or create a monstrosity only you could love. What you're REALLY paying for, is the size/type of crust/salad, NOT what goes on top. Warning: you're gonna think piling on 10 toppings sounds like a good idea, but just because you CAN, doesn't mean you SHOULD. The more you pile on, it becomes harder to cook the middle properly, which means it will be cooked unevenly, and can cause the outer edge to be more done than the rest. However, if you insist upon having 10+ toppings, ask them to "roll/dock/dimple" it when you start, itll help it cook and if they know its going to be a lot of toppings, they can moderate it properly, so u get what you want, and it's not 4 layers high. There's a few choices for crusts. The original crust : Vegan. an 11 inch thin crust, commonly pressed out fresh minutes before you get it. Its simultaneously crispy and chewy. And you can ask for it to be crispy/well done/light bake, per preference. It's about $8.45 at this Mod. A MINI : Vegan. same as original, but about 6inches. Making mountains on this size isn't a smart idea. If it's too high, you'll lose a couple toppings off the top/edge when it's in the oven. A Mega : vegan. Their answer to thick crust. Seriously tasty. It's 2 11 inch crusts pressed together. Gluten FRIENDLY : Vegan. 11 inch crust, is chewy and is quite popular. $2 more than the Mod. All of the toppings are Gluten Free. They say "friendly" because it all goes into the same oven, with the same paddle. But I've seen them go out of thier way for those with delicate allergies (wash hands/glove change/fresh cutters/use unopened toppings from under thier line) Never be afraid to ask for a glove change. Cauliflower Crust : 11 inch. NOT Vegan. (Contains cheese) Gluten Friendly. Thinner than the GF, is chewy and Tastes like TOASTED PARMESAN CHEESE. Popular, and worth the $2 difference. You can also get "garlic or cinnamon" strips, with several different sauces/dips. But the best is the "cheesy garlic bread". It's made with the MEGA crust, with olive oil, parm, mozzarella and rosemary. Around $6. Worth it. There are also 3 sizes for salads, and a "pizza salad" which is your salad mix on a mod/GF/CF crust, which is baked with asiago. It's whatever you want in a salad, as long as it fits in the bowl. There are even 4 choices for your greens. The choices of toppings can be overwhelming. 6 cheeses. 6 base sauces. Sometimes as many as 20+ veggie choices. (Several roasted fresh choices every day) 8 meats. 7+ dressings. 7+ finishing sauces. A variety of bottles drinks, as well as 4 tap beers, 2 house made teas, and 2 house made lemonades. And milkshakes, and BOTTOMLESS float refills while you're there. The No-name cakes are tasty as well. (They're everything Ding Dongs wish they could be) This place gets BUSY. It is popular for gatherings of all sizes, and can get loud. The line can stretch to the other side of the restaurant, but it moves faster than you might think. Employees are always hustling, but still friendly. Ask them for suggestions. You won't regret it. Go here. They're popular...
Read moreAlways a good experience at MOD Pizza. The restaurant is clean and free of maintenance issues which is good. I just recently went there and noticed the wood tables were sticky to the touch. It wasn't because they were dirty either. It's because the cleaning product they used took off the top protective coat. They will need to figure out something for that. I like watching them make my food. When is busy, is loud inside and hard to hear but when it's not busy, it's fine. Wait time for a pizza is very acceptable. Even during busy times. That's because they have a dedicated person rotating the pizza and pulling them out to serve up. The prices are at market value for the size of pizza you get. Typically a12-14 inch pizza. Salads come per-made or custom made to your desire. They have bottle soda and water or fountain drinks to choose from. They now have these little "no name" cakes for sale at the register. I don't know what they taste like but they are $3 each. CDA location also has an outside seating option as well which is nice. When I get my pizza, it's hot and ready to eat. Customer service is decent. It could be a little better in the sense of having the employees being more receptive to customers during initial greeting. I do like that they ask a lot of questions about what you want on your pizza or in your salad. Restrooms are clean and accessible stocked with necessary materials. Parking at the CDA location isn't bad during the week days but sucks during the weekend. You could probably drive a trailer or motorhome and park a little way off and be fine. You are sharing the parking lot with several other businesses. Hours of operations are good. It would be nice if they opened a little...
Read moreI took my son on a Friday night, so it was busy. While standing in line, I overheard the employee at the pizza crust press complaining loudly about customers. I understand her need to vent, but it was in very poor taste to do so within earshot of other waiting customers. Another employee hoped I wouldn't notice that she left toppings off of my salad. When she got to the cucumber bin, she paused and asked the employee next to her if they had more cucumbers. He was also busy so he told her he wasn't sure. I moved over to the cash register and watched her.. she looked under the counter, she walked into the back, she asked a couple of more employees if there were more cucumbers. Rather than tell me they were out, or offer me a different ingredient in place of cucumbers, or communicate with me in SOME way, she simply turned the salad bowl out of my sight in front of her body, closed up the lid, and handed it to me. Oddly enough, what the pizza press girl was upset about was that a customer complained that they had never received such poor customer service. I wouldn't have called it the worst I've ever received, because everyone was friendly enough, it was just clear that the staff is very inexperienced and needs a lot of training.
On another note, do NOT come here if you have a wheat or gluten allergy. There was no offer of a glove change, the sauce ladles were plunked into the same bucket, employees were tugging at their flour dusted shirts with their gloved hands then grabbing food again. Not safe for gluten allergies at all, and not very...
