Mulligan's Restaurant — Restaurant in Coeur d'Alene

Went with friends and family and we all tried something different. Everyone was happy with their dinner. Sweet potato fries were perfect, my Parmesan trout with lemon caper sauce was enormous and yummy. Beef brisket was thumbs up and the tap beer selections were good.

The service was friendly and excellent (thank you Amanda) and we even brought in a birthday dessert and there was no charge for plating. She was very sweet and efficient.

My only qualm about giving 5 stars is the decor/ambiance is very diner. And I’m not going to lie …. My first impression had me worried that my restaurant choice for my birthday dinner was going to be a fail. (But I trusted the North Idaho foodie group and as usual that was a good call).

Hotel restos are not usually on our map for travel meals while RVing, but I knew this place was well known for a great AYCE salad bar for the Wifey---one of her weaknesses. The salad bar looked robust, but she wound up wanting to look at the regular menu. Good choice, because we won't eat again until next Wed. She did their Halibut & Fries, and got a far more than either of us imagined. My burger was huge, with a generous amount of gorganzola, with added bacon. Couldn't finish it, while helping her with the filets. The place, itself, has been there for decades, but the hotel keeps it well maintained. Mulligans offers a very nice, fresh salad bar and two choices of soup daily. This is a very popular dining option and I'd like to believe that it's a viable business. I've eaten there many times. Generally the soups are quite good. Today, March 19th, one of the soups is "Old Fashioned Cabbage soup". Cabbage is not really a popular food item, but Cabbage Soup? And Old Fashioned, at that? Why would you turn your leftover cabbage from St. Patrick's day into soup and expect it to be an enticing offering? What is Old Fashioned about this particular soup? Cabbage soup is cabbage soup.
