I ate here on a Saturday night on the recommendation of a friend and also based on the pretty decent reviews here on this website. My overall review is that this was an okay place, but nothing special.
SERVICE. My server was exceptional. I give her 5 stars. She was super attentive and accommodating. I did have to ask her for her name though because she did not introduce herself by name when she came to my table (that is Rule Number One for servers and should be a natural reflex).
The food was provided in a very timely manner.
FOOD. I ordered fish and chips, and sorry to say, they did not arrive at my table hot. The french fries that came with the meal were greasy and limp, and looked nothing like the fish and chips photo on this page. I've had better fries at McDonalds. I paid a premium price for a product that really was completely uninspiring. Anybody with half a brain cell could do better than this.
The fish had a very fishy flavor to it. Now of course we all know that fish ought to taste like fish. But not to the extent that these did. Not only that, but each piece of fish was a quarter of an inch thick. Very scanty. So in my opinion, the portion size was very sub-par.
I also ordered some of their signature French onion soup. This was tasty, but I have to say that it was probably 70% cheese and 30% broth! I think they could make the serving size a little bigger to accommodate more broth!
SEATING. I made reservations for 7 p.m., and arrived a little early so I sat in the bar area and ordered my dinner which was then later delivered to me in the restaurant lounge area away from the bar. This restaurant did not have enough server staff to adequately take care of its patrons in the lounge area. I thought that was very unusual for a Saturday night.
I didn't have any drinks so I can't comment on that. They did have a live guitarist standing in the bar area so if you're into that, I guess that could be considered entertainment. But I've seen far better entertainment on almost any other eatery on Sherman Avenue on a Saturday night.
So I'm not giving this a horrible review but I am going to say I didn't find this place to be anything special as far as the food goes and that is at least 70% of the reason for my coming here. It's too bad the food didn't match the Excellence of the...
Read moreAs seasoned summer locals and after years of wonderful dining and happy hour experiences at Seasons, this is a review we never dreamed we would have to write. Unfortunately, upon our excited return to Coeur d'Alene - with Seasons being our first of what we hoped would be two weeks of great dining adventures - we left the restaurant disappointed, sick, and ignored.
First, menus come and menus go. We get that and, while pandemic issues over thre last two years has forced many restaurants to change their offerings, one of the things we have loved most about Seasons through the years is its commitment to quality service, products, and pricing. On all three counts, the cocktails, food, and (lack of) support we received have moved them solidly from the very top to the very bottom.
While our waitress tried to answer our questions and resolve our immediate concerns, her only recourse was a steady stream of overused excuses. Ultimately, our drinks were served with rotted mint and limes, and our salad was served with rotten lettuce. When we flagged down our buser to request the salad be remade, she was completely dumbfounded as to what to do and looked at us as though we had asked her to solve a quadratic equation. We requested she send a manager to our table but none arrived. And while our waitress eventually replaced the overpriced salad, it too contained substandard ingredients.
Frustrated and tired by such a paltry experience, we ultimately paid our bill and tip in-full and placed a follow-up call to express our concerns directly with a manager or owner. One week later, we are still awaiting a return phone call.
Compare this to the dining experience we enjoyed two days later at a long-standing locals favorite less than a mile away: half the price (with a 20% tip), far better service (in fact, exceptional), more drinks, fresh food, quality ingredients, and heartier portions with prices that never waivered from pre-COVID rates.
Needless to say, while we wish Seasons improved success, these loyal customers will not...
Read moreUpdate: we went tonight on New Year's Eve and the meal was good. The fried cauliflower was a little different and I think a little overcooked. The chicken club was really good and had a lot of good flavors. The butterscotch dessert thing was amazing. I love the vibe here and they had live music tonight. It was a little busy but the service was still good. I love that they have non-alcoholic beer options. If you drink they have a ton of drinks to choose from here. I got the beet salad as usual which I really love. Overall we really love coming here. Great service tonight by Shannon.
Previous: We've been here at least 4 times and never a bad experience or meal. Tonight was very good. The ceviche was awesome, only complaint was the portion being a little small, just because it was really good. My husband got the stroganoff and it was amazing, although again the portions were kind of small, but still filling. I Got the Beat salad with grilled chicken and focaccia bread. It was amazing with a really tasty vinaigrette. Then the dessert was awesome! It was the apple tart. The flavors were so great. We've also taken my grandparents here when they came into town before and they are used to fine dining and very good food and they were impressed. The vibe is really good inside and you can watch football games on the bar side. The dining side is really nice. Service has always been decent with few exceptions. I don't drink but it looks like a good place to go and have cocktails and they also have non-alcoholic beer to offer. I would definitely recommend trying...
