1.19.25: It was my first time here at this location. When we arrived around 4ish for an early dinner, it was pretty busy and quite loud our entire stay. We were greeted by the hostess and actually sat almost immediately. Our server gave us a moment to look over drinks before greeting and taking our drink order. I ordered sweet tea, nothing fancy. I will say our server was totally on drink refills before being asked so that was a plus. The hot fresh baked bread as a warm up to appetizers was great. The bread is dense and knew I was gonna be full quick! The honey cinnamon butter was a win for me.
As for starters, our table ordered the Tater Skins and the Cactus Blossom. The tater skins came out piping hot and cheesy melty. They were good but heavy and naturally a little oily from all the melted cheese and bacon. Solid 7/10 for me. For my meal, I ordered the half rack of ribs and as for my two sides I chose the cup of chili and loaded baked sweet potato. My chili arrived before my meal, like a salad would and it was looking tasty off the bat. The red onions were fragrant and crisp and the cheese melted well as I stirred up all the goodness. No greasy look and tasted amazing! The ratio of beef and beans was perfect.
My ribs arrived looking saucy and smelling great. The sweet potato was like Thanksgiving all over again! First of all, it was REALLY hot temperature wise and pretty much remained hot the entire time lol. Secondly, I was excited about the burnt marshmallow topping and it visually reminded me of camping. It tasted just like a roasted marshmallow too, all gooey and extra sweet. And third, this was like a dessert in itself. The sweet potato on its own was like candy and with added honey cinnamon caramel sauce, it made it dessert-like. Check out my clip of how and steamy it was! Okay, so on to the ribs. They were meaty and tender and mostly fell off the bone. The BBQ sauce and flavor was more robust and smokey versus sweet and tangy. Between the appetizers and my heavy hitting meal, I was sad I was too full to eat dessert there. So to-go, I ordered the slice of Apple Pie w/ a scoop of vanilla ice cream and honey cinnamon caramel sauce to take home.
Now of course ordering and having the dessert at the restaurant is different than taking it home with you. I've never had this desert there before so I'm not sure if how I re-constructed it is exact. At home, it was good and the apples still had crunch and not flabby or soggy. I did reheat the pie in the oven at 350 degrees for 10ish minutes. The caramel got cold and had to reheat that and did so by running it underneath warm water.
Finally we're at the end of my usual wordy and lengthy reviews lol. Service was great and I feel bad I can't remember our server's name but she was totally on the drink refills. I didn't like how the ambience was just constantly loud, but that's to be expected at a popular restaurant on a Sunday afternoon going into dinner hour. This place is so popular that I heard the birthday song being sang 6 different times! The menu has many choices and a variety of options. So I'd like to come back and try something different. I signed up for the club program and received a free appetizer that expires on 2/6. Nice job on the marketing to get you back in! I would give this place 5 stars but it was a bit too noisy for me and the tables are kinda small for the big meals and plates they serve. Of course, this isn't the servers fault and has no bearing on the service...
Read moreI like Texas Roadhouse and I do recommend it for a good steak if you don't want to spend $100 per person at a steakhouse. We went here tonight to celebrate my step sons 18th birthday. My wife called a couple hours ahead to reserve a table/give them a heads up of our 8 person party at 530. When we showed up it was packed to the gills. The hostess said she couldn't sit us until all 8 of us were there. I really wish they would allow us to secure a table with a non refundable deposit. That would be used towards the total of the check. You could even make it say $15 per person in the party to reserve the table. So if we reserve a table for 8 but only 4 show up, we would forfeit that $60 to cover the lost profit or revenue from those seats left empty. That seems reasonable to me. Our server was a very nice guy named Holden, he was friendly, laid back, checked in on us regularly and ensured we had the best experience possible. A couple of the smaller steaks in our order (one of which was the one for the birthday boy) were overcooked quite a bit but, once we brought it to Holden's attention, he grabbed the manager and got the kitchen to make some new steaks. I think he even had them cook larger steaks than the originals and waited at the table when he dropped off the replacements to ensure they were acceptable this time. The fried pickles, rattlesnake bites and my house salad were great. My Bone in ribeye (medium rare) was cooked to absolute perfection. The drinks we had were very good and the waters were in clean glasses and tasted good (some places have crappy water/ice) Music was a little louder than I would have liked as we had to almost yell at each other to have conversation while waiting for our food. The place was packed and we only waited about 3-5 minutes for our drinks, 8minutes for our appetizers and about 45 minutes for our meals. I think that's very reasonable considering the volume of people they are catering to at 545 on a Saturday night. I've been to high end steakhouses like Churchill's in Spokane, Ruth's Chris in Portland,OR and Masselows in the Northern Quest Casino in Spokane as well and the wait times are the same or longer. A more comfortable table with chairs or a booth and the ability to reserve a table with a non refundable deposit would earn the 5stars for me. They do have a diverse staff of men and women who all seem to have a great attitude and all seemed to be in a great mood which really made me feel less stressed in such a crowded environment. I've never been to another Texas Roadhouse Location but, I'd bet this Coeur d'Alene, ID location is in the top 5% in the franchise in regards to the staff, cleanliness, consistency, abundance of parking and amount of business they...
Read moreMy friend Rob and his daughter took me to Texas Roadhouse for dinner on my birthday. I had been there many times in the past but decided to review them this time around. We called ahead to get seating and that was the right thing to do since the wait was like 45-50 minutes. A lot of people were getting out of cars only to leave after being told the wait time. Our wait, once we went inside, was only about 5 minutes. Most tables were filled and we sat next to several big parties of people. As usual it was loud and it was hard to hear the waitress when she came to our table. But if you've been there before you should already be aware of that. Anyways, I ordered the Full Rack of Ribs cuz I wanted to try something besides steak and share it with Rob and his daughter. In the description it said the meat would fall off the bones and that's exactly what it did. But not in a good way. The ribs were over cooked and dry. And there wasn't much meat on them. I've had much better ribs other places. Heck I've made better ribs at home. So I was not impressed. The salad I got with 1000 island dressing was one of the best I've ever had. Just the right blend of tomatoes lettuce and croutons. I also got the sweet potato with butter that was cooked to perfection. And of course the bread with the cinnamon butter was amazing. Rob got the Chicken Fried Chicken with a white gravy and steak fries. He said the chicken was awesome. I tried some fries and they were really good. His daughter got the New York Strip and loaded mashed potatoes and said both were great. Oh and we got a free blooming onion since we had to wait so long, even tho we waited for how long they said it would take, so not sure why but hey free food. And dang that was good. I couldn't stop eating it. Yet, my dinning experience was a miss this time and even tho the ribs were eatable they were just over cooked. And the main focus for eating there was to snarf on some kind of meat so dry ribs killed it for me. And to send back the ribs and wait for who knows how long was just not going to happen since I was really hungry so I just ate some anyways. I've only ever had steak in the past and truth be told that has been hit or miss too. But none of this will stop me from coming here again. Hey I'm a carnivore at heart and can't resist a juicy steak or the flesh of some animal yet only cooked to perfection. So does this place deserve a five star rating? Not from me but overall the fun atmosphere, the excellent wait staff, and the reasonable prices make Texas Roadhouse a worthy destination for your...
