Not the worst service I've had, but pretty close. Walked in and there was about a 10 minute wait, not a big deal, we are use to waiting at breakfast spots. Once seated, we were immediately poured coffee and water, great start. Unfortunately, that was about the last positive thing we encountered. 15 minutes after being seated our waitress came to take our order. They were busy, it was obvious they were running a little thin. We were in no hurry, so waiting a few extra minutes to order our food and to possibly wait for our food wasn't a problem. Our main issue began to arise as we were waiting for our food, and taking in the staff interactions with other patrons and coworkers. We watched our server legitimately argue with a customer and roll her eyes as she walked away from them over them asking if she knew how much longer for their food. We watched what look to be maybe the manager or "hostess" belittle the bussers on numerous occasions. We heard servers arguing with the chefs about what goes with what. Then we received our food 1hr exactly after placing our order, we were a table of two, tables of 4 who sat and ordered after us received their food before we did. Our server dropped toast smearing butter over our table and instead of maybe getting us new toast... She brought us napkins. Food was mediocre at best. For a restaurant that specializes in breakfast I did expect more. My boyfriend's steak was overcooked (he asked for rare) got medium, we were starved by this point and after the interactions we saw, we just wanted to eat and leave. Better yet, our server didn't come back to our table for 20 mins so to complain about the food would have been pointless at that time. She did drop the check off to which I immediately put my card with while she was still at the table, didn't take it. Instead we waited for another 15 mins to check out. And when she did come take the card, her immediate statement was "I can only move so fast" ... The only positive experience was seeing the two teen aged boy bussers. They were working so hard and kept their composure after being belittled the entire two hours we were there. That's honestly the only reason this review is getting 2* because each of them deserve a star. I slipped both of them $5 before we left and they deserved so much more. In total we walked in at 10:04am and didn't...
Read moreFirst off, I want you to know my experience was not all bad. It's just the lack of care and the response that has me so upset. This is a cute little Diner, been around for years. The atmosphere is bright and cozy. The staff are friendly, though not very efficient (forgetting a request when we only asked for 2 things). This was our first time dining here. We like to get a selection when we try a new place, so had cinnamon roll and biscuit and gravy on the side. Cinnamon roll was ok, not too sweet with the inside and the raisins were a nice addition. The part that needs improvement is the dough. Just didn't have a lot of flavor and was close to cardboard dryness. The gravy for the buscuits were salt conscious, so not overpowering, but there was very little meat to break up the texture, which congealed quite quickly. Now, both of us had the same issue, but only one of us spoke up. I would like to take the time here to remind everyone about the disclaimer about eating undercooked foods and increased chance of illness. I'm sure you know where that is going, but I'll get to that later. My boyfriend ordered over medium eggs, which by definition has a runny yolk and solid whites. His eggs had runny whites, and he lost his appetite. Luckily, he'd already had the meat and cinnamon roll, but he likes to mix eggs with hash browns, so had none. I myself wasn't paying much attention, getting over easy eggs. My boyfriend pointed out a spot where it was all snotty with the whites and I stopped eating after only a couple bites. When the issue with his eggs were brought up, they decided to take the cost of an egg off of the meal. Are you ready for this? 25 cents. First off, everyone knows when you ask for extra eggs, you are charged a minimum of $1 each. Then, you take into account the fact that there were 2 eggs and the hash browns weren't eaten either. By volume, that is half the breakfast. Now, on to me. Again, I had over easy eggs and only had a few bites. Tonight I had nausea and ended up puking. Mind you, this breakfast was the only thing I ate today. Again, I understand the warning, but over easy should have more than 30 seconds on the second side, people. Needless to say, this is just not out cup of tea, though I wish your experience will be...
Read moreWe ate at here on a road trip through the Rockies. If anything can turn a grouchy, sore group of hikers into bright-eyed bushy tailed piggies, the Breakfast Nook is it!!!
On entering, a waitress cheerfully greeted us and served coffee while we devoured the menu with our eyes...so many choices 😀 Biscuits and gravy, egg scrambles, pancakes, waffles, french toast, omelettes, and it's totally cool to order off the lunch menu if slamming down a 10 oz hot steak sandwich and a pound of crispy taters is your plate of breakfast!
We ordered the biscuits and gravy, eggs and sausage, omelette, french toast, and cinnamon roll. When the food came out, our eyes bulged and stomachs cringed as our nostrils quivered in delight. This is living, this is life! With sweet rolls the size of loaves, omelettes bigger than bricks, and a sausage patty that makes a hamburger patty look like, well, a sausage patty. 😉
Once we dug in, the food rapidly disappeared...its slippery food, like cheesy burgers that you can eat great quantities of without realizing it; until, of course, you step on a scale or try to button your pants! The waitresses bustled back and forth refilling our coffees to wash down all the food. Our visit was truly heartwarming and memorable. There is hope for American...
