We love CDA Resort, and the views just can't be beat. We enjoy lunch on the patio and generally have a great time. Yesterday, however, proved to be disappointing. Our server was Sage, a delightful young person who initially was friendly and communicative. However, after an initial greeting, it took several minutes to get drinks. We ordered an appetizer. It took 40-45 minutes for it to arrive. We were not in a hurry, but we were hungry. We decided we should order dinner as soon as the appetizer arrived. We did not have any napkins, plates, or silverware. We waited for all that. The truffle fries were cold upon arrival and continued to cool while we waited for utensils. The condiments we ordered with the fries never arrived after requesting them more than once. When we commented on our disappointment with the appetizer, our server proceeded to convey to others her frustration with us. I guess she was not aware that she was still im in sight when making her facial expression as she walked away from our table. To her credit, she offered to remove the fries from the check. Next, we waited for our meal to arrive. With the burger came fries, and I asked for ketchup. No ketchup when the order arrived. I asked again for ketchup. I waited. Someone else came by, so I asked him for ketchup. Tick-tock, tick-tock. No ketchup. I am finished eating, and my ketchup arrives. We said we were ready for the check. After waiting a bit, another employee brings the check. We asked our dinner host to review the bill and make sure the fries had been removed. The person delivering the check reviewed the check, very curtly let us know it had been removed, and walked away to process the payment. We noticed throughout our meal that others around us had to ask for things more than once. We heard diners asking for napkins and silverware, etc. We also noticed that all the servers and support staff were chatting and visiting with a single diner. They all stopped at his table, chatted with him, and engaged with him continually. Maybe he was a coworker on break or something; he was quite a distraction. We waited a very long time for mediocre food, service that ranged from good to bad, and then a 30-minute wait for the car in valet. We think we will try another option in CDA next time. If you go to Whispers, you may find long waits, average food options, and sub-par service. Is it more difficult to serve guests in the outdoor area? If so, Whispers may want to consider ways to ensure food can be served while still hot and that servers have all the resources they need to be efficient and...
Read moreWe spent a while digging around well rated restaurants to have a nice meal since we were just passing thru coeur d alene and we saw this had good reviews. Came in and it has a great atmosphere, watched a beautiful sunset and the waitress was very nice and sweet (we sat outside) … but we ordered the NY steak… it was horrible, tasted like it was grilled and then finished in a microwave and was grey, 0 redness or life to it and rubbery (ordered medium)… in a very nice hotel, tasting like chilis steak is sort of unacceptable, last time I had a steak like that was 10 years ago in college… at chilis… Bland, no depth or good texture in it. Got a belly ache later you can...
Read moreI loooooooove Whispers. It's been around longer than I have (my mom was a cocktail waitress while she attended college) but the Resort has done a great job updating it and keeping it relevant. It's cozy and almost intimate, with wonderful views and a very laid back, yet classy vibe. I've never seen it particularly busy, nor crowded or loud even on a weekend (in the past, the Shore Lounge used to draw that crowd)
I've had cocktails with girlfriends here, grabbed a glass of whiskey with a date after dinner, and even stopped in for a martini with my mom. It's the perfect environment for each occasion.. and I'm just now realizing I don't go there...
