1st off, I'm very picky about Chinese food and am very wary of places that advertise that they do Chinese & (fill in the blank). The places I loved in Seattle are long gone (China Village, Panda's, Yak's, etc) but they shaped my preferences and tastes. That said, living on this side (near Spokane), it's hard to find noodles that I appease me. Also, our situation was kind of unique and the staff/owner/family were accommodating to us. We went at off-hours so the place was empty. Parking in the back is kind of a pain but doable. (this was my 1st time in Colfax)
We ordered an odd variety; we also phoned in the order on the drive and kinda went in blind. Pictures are of the chicken lo mein (soft noodle. I believe regular chow mein, here, uses those crunchy noodle thingys) and their home made eggrolls. They say over the phone they are 'big'. The hand is for scale. Not pictured were fish n chips, veggie fried rice, and their homemade potstickers.
The food was good. The noodles are how I prefer them. The pot stickers were excellent. The fish n chips, weren't for the adults but the fries were terrific (we've run into a lot of soggy fries lately) and the fish was typical (most likely frozen, fried well). The fried rice was so-so (not dark enough for me) and the egg rolls were decent. It's nice they are hand-made.
Prices are iffy. They aren't bad, fairly consistent w/ most places. Portions are decent tho I'm pretty sure I've paid more for less. The menu looks good and I'm curious about what their other...
Read moreArrived at 7 pm on a Friday night, one other table was seated. All the staff were hanging by the kitchen, one did come out to direct us toward a table. He was courteous. We wanted to try the egg rolls, he informed us that there was only one left, so we got that. It was fair. We also Pot Stickers, they make in house, those were pretty good. It was a long wait for him to come back to the table to take a meal order. I stood up a couple times to get someone's attention, that was annoying, since we were the only other party there. We ordered Mongolian Beef - good flavor, light on beef however, Eddies Special Fried Rice - good flavor, what you would expect from a Chinese American restaurant, comparable to Safeway China Express or Panda Express, and finally Chicken and Vegetables as a suggestion from the server versus Chicken Chop Suey - good flavor, light on chicken, heavy on vegetables. Overall, it seems a bit pricey for what you get, however given the remoteness of Colfax, the prices may be needed in order to continue staying in business. If you are hungry, this place will work, it just won't knock your socks off. As we left, we just got the impression that we had intruded on them, perhaps they were thinking of closing early due to lack to customers and our arrivals...
Read moreGreat service, cordial, friendly and warm. This Restaurant is highly visible going to and from Colfax, WA 99111. The food was hot.
Parking is street parking. Did not see any handicapped spots. Depending on the time of day it is difficult to exit the street onto the Main St. Other than that, the Restaurant appeared clean with plenty of tables and chairs.
A quick reminder, the Cuisine is Cantonese, not to be compared to Mandrin. I never ever had Cantones food before. I ordered Pork Fried Rice, Chicken with vegetables, a Wonton Soup and two other plates. My order came up to over $60.00. The food is definitely NOT what Im used to. The flavor and the style was not of my liking. I ended up cooking something else at home. For that inconvenience and not having handicapped parking I gave it 4 stars.
There is nothing wrong with this restaurant at all. I was not expecting a different ethnic style. The taste was off to me.
I am used to Chinese Mandarin style food.
Other than that, we highly recommend Eddy's Chinese Restaurant.
Dont forget, its...
