Great place, service, and food, but you better be really hungry! We stopped by Smiths Restaurant for breakfast and both of us ordered the Sausage w/2 scrambled eggs, which comes with hashbrowns and choice of toast. Having a bit of a sweet tooth lately, along with hunger pains bigger than my stomach, I also ordered one pancake…. You know… we could share, right?! It was all so very delicious with very generous portions! Our server was very attentive and our coffee cups were never empty. The tasty eggs were light and fluffy, served omelet style; the flavorful sausages had a tiny kick and were cooked perfectly; and the large mound of hashbrowns was crispy on the outside but tender on the inside. All yummy! But the pancake!!!! Oh my…. THE PANCAKE!!! It was the star of the meal covering the entire dinner plate and about 1/2” thick, but light as a cloud and served with a scoop of butter and hot syrup - I didn’t even have to ask them to heat it up because every comfort food restaurant knows that a hot pancake desires hot syrup💕 - Every bite was as delicious as the first, and we “cleaned” our plates with the help of TWO takeout boxes! A must stop especially if you’re hungry! Highly...

Wife and I were traveling back to KC from Branson and we were both hungry. Pull up food joints nearby and this place pops up. Thought, ok, let's give it a shot since it has a 4.5 rating.
Drive in to the lot and see the name on the building with half of the letters missing and thought uh oh.... we are in for an adventure. Walk to the door and see "no credit cards".....we are actually carrying cash today so let's still try it out.
Walk inside and and are greeted by friendly staff. Look through the menu and see blackened tenderloin. Man that sounds good. A short time later the food comes out and with a quick glance you can tell that this food was fresh, not frozen. The rolls looked (and tasted) like home made. The corn tasted like sweet corn straight off the cob. That tenderloin was juicy and blackened perfectly. Wife's country fried steak was breaded perfectly as well.....not too much, not bare.
Nowadays it's difficult to find real homemade food, but that's exactly what they specialize in......

Read moreMy wife and I come out to Smith's in Collins, MO at least once a month, sometimes two or three times and never has the food been bad. Just like today at our meal during the Lunch Hour. It was hot, fresh and absolutely delicious. But our service was the worst I have ever experienced. Our server was not just inattentive and dismissive of us but was absolutely rude to customers around us. We were left hanging, forgotten about after twice being told she would be right back to assist us to place a "ToGo Order" but not like she said. When she returned 35 minutes later after we had finished our meal she finally got our to go order we still had to wait another 30 minutes for it. When she brought us our to go order, there was no apology for the delay or her actions. No she simply slammed our tickets down on the table and said there you go. Makes me Not want to ever come back. This is the third time we have had a server that has a bad attitude and that does not care about doing her job here at Smith's in...
