Pounder's Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Cologne

Was in Cologne for meetings all day and gave Pounders a try. Wow. The inside is as clean and fresh as I've seen in a "small town" bar/restaurant. They have a cool garage door that I'm assuming they open up in the warm month seasons to let in some fresh air/ a breeze. Now, the food... I keep it light for lunches so I didn't get to try the Double Pork Burger with bacon jalapeño jam unfortunately. I got the Chips N Dips sampler along with the eggs Benedict. This was like no other eggs Benedict that I've ever had. There is a ham-steak about an inch thick on it. It was absolutely delicious. So many other things I cannot wait to try. Also...

Pro-Tip: order yourselves a couple of sides of the "Pounders Sauce". It's like a creamy, BBQ, zesty, sweet, savory sauce that knocks it out of the ball-park. I bought 6 sides of it to go. Pounders should bottle that stuff up and sell it. Top-notch.

Pretty disappointed. First off the menu online is wrong it's a lot more. I ordered the El Diablo burger. They use frozen patties, the burger was dry with no seasoning. The bacon was so dry and old it was like jerky. I don't know what they mean by Cajun ham but that was nowhere to be found. The cheese even looks old. I don't know what the spicy sauce is but it added some flavor. The fries were not fully cooked, and they didn't put the onion ring on top. I understand that this is a bar but if you're going to charge over $20 for a burger and a fry, you could at least use fresh ground beef. No one wants to pay $20 for a frozen patty. I don't know how you under cooked the fries either. What makes things worse is when I got there to pick up my order she told me that they we're just finishing up with the order and it came out like this. Probably won't be back....

It may be we were just here on a bad night but......#1. Guiness on tap but they dont know how to properly pour it. #2. Two of us got the beef commercial special and it was litterally cold in spots. #3. Got the farmer burger. Sausage patty, chicken and ham with cheese. Not a good combo. #4. Slow service and not particularly freindly. I got the idea most of the young servers were more interested in chatting with the mostly young men in there too. #5. Had a band. A bit loud. #6. Nice location and atmosphere. Could be so much better all in all. Again, coulda been just...
