I would consider my wife and I seafood aficionados, having eaten seafood from Maine to Florida and many places in between. Being in Fredericksburg, Va and close to many of our favorite eateries within a short drive for us. We thought we would give Wilkerson's the benefit of the doubt. Really the only thing I can rate this place high would be on location, just something about being near the water while you are enjoying your meal. We came for the weekend buffet, as I can kill most buffets and ALL YOU CAN eats, got to get in out monies worth. However that didn't start until 5 pm, which was a disappointment. We arrived at 3 pm our error, the local station didn't say what time it started and when I called, I failed to ask and the young person who answered the phone when I inquired did not tell me. Not wanting to waste the trip, we placed an order from the menu, we kept it simple. Cream of crab soup, which basically was the the cream base, which had on it a couple of spoonfuls of back fin meat placed on top, too much onion in the cream base, it over powered everything STRIKE ONE. We ordered the "broiled" shrimp and scallops, both of our meals were over cooked, We stomached through our rubbery meals, STRIKE TWO & THREE. After it was all said and done, our $72.00 meal could have been better at any of the other spots we enjoyed elsewhere in the area that are worth the drive. Any of the MAD CRAB locations in the Fredericksburg area, Capt. Billy's at Popes Creek, Md or Capt. John's at Cobbs Island, Md. After a very rough ride home and multiple stops to use rest rooms, due to our stomachs turning. We will consider this a lesson learned and one less restaurant, that we have to...

We are local Virginians. We've been visiting Colonial Beach for the past 3 years and have been meaning to check out Wilkersons, based on the locals' suggestions and online reviews. This was our first visit. It was around 5:30pm. We asked to be seated in an area with a water view. The only available, was in the back room, which host said had just closed, even though there were people still sitting/eating in that section, maybe because that evening the restaurant was due to close at 7pm. Several other patrons came in after us and were then seated in that area. My husband had a few seafood items kind of ala carte. He said it was delicious but had better. I had the prime rib, w/fried shrimp, and baked potato, which I ordered medium to medium rare, & one trip salad bar. The first attempt came well done. They did refire another, and that was better, but more rare in spots. Both pieces seemed to be cut with more fat than typical. Mind you, I love a little fat. The second piece did not seem to be seasoned. The server was friendly and attentive, but I had to wait a bit for her to return so I could send back my steak. The salad bar was ok but was selecting pieces of lettuce from the bottom of the barrel. It seemed as though they refilled it upon request from a customer who came later, behind me. There was an older gentleman behind the register who greeted most people and rang people up. Don't know if this was the owner. He never stepped away from that spot. Overall, we had a good experience. The food was good, but not up to all the raves we had heard and was expecting. We...

As unfortunate as it truly is to say ... This was place was one of the most horrible places i have ever, ever been! In my entire life! My family and i went there to have an amazing meal together while on vacation, it was also recommended to us and, our plates were so rediculously small, we didn't eat or pay and, we walked out on the meal. We purchased one of the most expensive seafood meals they had to offer (just to ensure we should have REALLY enjoyed it), when we received our plates, we were so floored and asked if that was all we would get and were told that we actually had gotten extra!! Our baked potatoes were the size of a kiwi! I mean, i cant even fully explain how pityful our plates were! The salad bar was also a very major let down with only one type of lettuce and no real selection of anything! The original "all you can eat/seafood buffet" was absolutely disgraceful as well. Barely the size of a picnic table, flavorless, shrimp tasted like it was cooked in bleach water, i have never seen anything so pathetic in my life. On top of it all, our waitress was an utterly ignorant, nasty woman. You get a thousand times better buffet at golden corral! For less than half the price! I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. Youre even better off eating McDonald's fish sandwich and thats a total shame to even be able to say. My advice ... Go right down the road to Dockside!! Now that place was absolutely AMAZING!! I went from the worst place ive ever been, to 1 of my fav, top 3 places,...

Older looking place. Clean and bright dining room. Pricing is comparable to other seafood restaurants. Seafood is pricey. The food was superior to most, reminds me of 1970s-80s Lowery's in Tappahannock. Home style seafood and sides in generous portions. If you leave hungry, it is your own fault. Water views of the creek and Potomac are pretty. There is a pier, people were fishing while we watched. Get the crab dip appetizer if you don't order any other food. Hush puppies are served pre-meal as other restaurants serve bread or rolls. I am not a fan of onions, but I didn't notice them if they were in there. They were perfectly delicious with the crab dip spooned on top. Seafood buffet was not available on Monday, when we were there for our anniversary. Buffet is Saturday and Sunday only according to their signage. Salad bar was kind of small, but tasty with the usual favorites and dressings and also in house homemade cole slaw, potato salad and macaroni salad. I got one of the specials, the scallops and crab stuffed shrimp. I chose broiled, but it was also available fried. Every bite was delicious. So much food that I took half of it home. My husband got the seafood platter, shrimp, fish, scallops and a crabcake, I think. He ordered the fried platter, but broiled was also available. He cleaned the plate before I was able to sneak a taste of anything. We both ordered strawberry milkshakes to go as our dessert. Waitresses were so sweet and attentive to us. Splurge and just go try them.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Wilkerson's Seafood Restaurant located at 3900 McKinney Blvd in Colonial Beach, VA. I must say, it was a truly delightful experience. The highlight of my visit was the Perfect Rockfish fried fish sandwich with Fries. The sandwich was perfectly cooked, with the fish being crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. It was accompanied by a generous portion of golden fries that were cooked to perfection. Each bite was a burst of flavors that left me craving for more. The ambiance of the restaurant added to the overall experience. I visited on a Sunday afternoon and it was the perfect spot to relax and unwind. The restaurant is situated along the Virginia side of the Potomac River, providing a picturesque view while enjoying a delicious meal. The staff was attentive and friendly, making me feel welcomed throughout my visit. To complement my meal, I decided to indulge in a frosted mug full of beer. It was the perfect accompaniment to the flavors of the seafood. The drink was refreshing and added an extra layer of enjoyment to my already fantastic meal. If you're in the area and looking to escape for a while, Wilkerson's Seafood Restaurant is definitely a place you should consider. The combination of delectable seafood, picturesque location, and friendly service make it a great addition to your list of places to eat. I highly recommend stopping by and experiencing it for yourself.

After spending a relaxing afternoon at Colonial Beach, we stopped at Wilkerson's seafood restaurant. That was truly a treat. I had their combo number two which was fried shrimp and scallops with a side of mixed vegetables. So good!! Our server first brought us a basket of their delicious hush puppies, of course I brought those home and what I don't eat, I'm going to freeze so I can reheat later because they were that yummy. Generous refills of your drink. Our server was great, attentive and so nice. I can't wait to go back.
