Tequila's Family Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Colorado

This experience was so good it made us question our life choices, like, "Should we just move in here?"

The staff was like a team of superheroes, only they were armed with trays and not capes, constantly swooping in to provide service without making us feel like villains. It was like watching a well-oiled machine, but one that also serves you delicious food.

The service was faster than a cheetah chasing its lunch. We barely had time to sit down before chips and salsa appeared on our table, like magic. Drinks arrived so quickly, we half-expected them to be delivered by a caffeine-fueled teleportation specialist. And any extras we asked for? Delivered with the speed of a ninja, no questions asked.

The food was so good that we considered asking for seconds and thirds just to stay longer. Lunch specials were perfectly portioned, and the chips kept coming like they were auditioning for a comedy show.

We even thought about sending a postcard to Buffalo Wild Wings with the message, "Wish you were here to take notes." If anyone from there reads this, consider it a friendly challenge to up your game!

I stopped in Trinidad CO on a cross country drive and visited Tequila's because of the reviews. The experience dining there overall was excellent. The ambiance is colorful and cheerful; the staff are friendly and available. Unlike other restaurants I've visited in 2024, there did not appear to be a staff shortage. We never had to wait for service: our table was visited often to ensure my party of two had whatever we wanted. We arrived at 5:30 and were seated immediately. Chips and salsa was served as we sat down, which was appreciated. We ordered and the food arrived before the chips were gone, so pretty fast. I had the mango chicken salad and my companion had steak fajitas. The food was entirely fresh, so very tasty. How much a diner likes a particular Mexican dish is a function in part of the locale you're used to. I'm used to San Antonio Tex-Mex, and this was slightly different. I've eaten here twice, once last year and now again this year. Last year was really good and I have no complaints for that visit. This year was horrible. We went in at 3:00 p.m. on a Tuesday so it wasn't really that crowded. The person who brought us our drinks and chips was pleasant. Our waiter on the other hand wasn't very friendly and was slow. We didn't get our food until almost 4:00 p.m. and it was cold. You could tell that it was sitting there for a while. I would probably not eat here again.

Update....... Ok it's been six years since I ate here and wrote the above review. I decided to give it another chance. We went there 08/04/2021 around 12:30 and there was a decent size crowd. The food was great and so was the service. Food was priced well and was good. The salsa with the chips was really good.

I'm not sure if the service from my previous review was an isolated incident or an ongoing issue. Either way it seems to be greatly improved!

I will eat here again and change my previous rating of one...
